I immediately saw OPANKA but never saw ANORAK. :)

Is Rd 10 possible? I can't get it.

EDIT: Oh, it is, that was a good spot by the contestants.

No Lexplorer at the moment so I can't check, but I'm pretty sure GUSTO can't be pluralised. How would you use it?

I feel a huge sense of relief that Aaron is on today, having posted on Friday that he was going to be

PAKORA, round 6.

I did it :D

100 * (((7 * 10)/2)/(6-1)) = 700 :D

INVERSOR for Round 12
3rd numbers alt:

(((10x4) + 9) x 9) - (5 + 2) = 441 - 7 = 434

Speaking to Cate before the game, she was convinced she was going to lose on account of Aaron's youth. But you never can tell.

For the second numbers round I had a more efficient solution:
100-2=98
6-1=5
98x5=490
490x10=4,900
4,900/7=700

I did it using only the smalls - (6-1)x2x7x10

Why, was he pulling faces at her from the audience?

Best female player since Anita Freeland at least. Also Chris Wills' little brother didn't do too well, but 56 isn't bad.

Heh, yeah she said this to me too. Cate is a very good player though I am a bit disappointed with some of my misses (round where I got settle, and the last numbers round for definite) but what can you do. I only discovered Apterous after filming, but if I had I think the practice would have prepared me better, since I didn't really practice, but playing against myself again to see if I improved didn't really show vast improvement in my opinion from then.

PUTAMEN for an equaller in round 13, MANDOLA for an equaller in round 11, APNOEA for an equaller in round 6, ... I'm getting bored now. I didn't get the conundrum as I guessed VAGINABLE. Sounds like it should be a word.

On a different note I thought that Aaron seemed a bit nervous as he had a monotone voice throughout and it was sometimes cringeworthy in my opinion, complete with the lack of smiling. Oh, and yes, he looks like Chris Wills, I agree.

Aaron, do you really pronounce your name the way Jeff said it ("ah-ron")? If so, it's a new one on me - I've only heard it pronounced "air-ron" before. My first assumption was that Jeff must have asked you how you say it, but then it occurred to me that maybe - as with Neil Zussman before you - Jeff just got it wrong and you were too polite to correct him.

Unlucky Aaron, your apterous games show you are better than that. But as you say you hadn't discovered apterous then.

I enjoyed today's game but was sorry Aaron didn't do better. Cate really is a much better player than I gave her credit for in the beginning, but following on only a few days after Kirk's game must have been a bit daunting. Kirk was so brilliant that I found the next 2 games quite boring but, hey ho, Countdown would indeed get very boring if everyone was a good as Kirk, so we do need plenty of variety. I didn't get the conundrum today either, but did better than Aaron in some of the other rounds, including the last numbers round. Oh dear, Aaron, how did you manage to miss that one?

Closer to ah-ron, I pronounce it more like ah-run.

Kathleen - I know, it was an awful miss :(.

What was that weird thing that Rachel was wearing with the Queen's head on? Also sometimes I think if she has any more make-up on, she'll run the risk of looking like a clown. Just "IMHO".

I thought it was quite a hard one, actually. I spent ages trying to find the 16 to take away from 9*5*10 and ended up Hansfording it when declaring my solution to my mum.

I guess, but on seeing the solution it did look a lot simpler than it was but in the end I suppose it didn't really matter anyway.

Jeff started with 'air-un' and changed to 'ah-run' after a few rounds. I've known about 3 Ah-runs and 0 Air-uns in my life and I've lived most of my life presuming 'air-ron' was the posh way of saying it.

I've now got an absolutely wonderful image of your mum dressed in a suit and clutching a stopwatch at 3:25 every afternoon to be Jeff.

DOMANIAL as a beater in rd 11 I think

I'd be surprised if the current champ (who's name I can't recall right now) didn't make it to 8.

Cate Henderson. Wow, good word, I've never heard of it - amazing considering it seems so high probability.

Sorry, but no. I just watched the opening of the show again on Catch-Up, and Jeff said "ah-run" repeatedly throughout the intro.

Off the top of my head I can't recall ever knowing anyone called Aaron, but until now I've only ever heard it pronounced "air-un" (or occasionally "arrun") - and my dictionary confirms that, at least as far as the biblical character is concerned, "air-un" is the standard pronunciation.

I've got a nephew called Aaron, pronounced "air-un"; but I've come across "Ah-run" too although that pronunciation is often spelt Aron. Neither is a particularly good match for the original Hebrew which is more like "A-ha-ron" (although the soft aitch often gets dropped in translation, hence the weird double aa in the traditional spelling).

It's easier just to call each Aaron "A Dogg".

8-)

And Kathleen, I don't believe she is, or I don't think that's where my name came from anyway.
