If you don't get the "No Round Details Available" message then you're pretty much a hopeless noob in my eyes ;)

Man, you kids today. I remember when we had to walk uphill both ways just to get to a computer, and we liked it. Anyway, here's mine: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=1 and here's my first (and the first) one with details: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=214

I remember seeing that and being amazed that Prune picked 4 large.

I would post my first game, but my game listing only goes as far back as March. I know I've been a member since then. Do you all know how to see all your games?

Here's your first game, Jason: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=1222
I don't think there's currently any smart way to find your first game, I just kept click "Jason Larsen's previous game" until there were none left.

I found mine in the game archive. I looked for the day I joined up, which it tells you in your profile.

First game was a killing of prune:

First game recorded:

Round 7 is funny.

I've often wondered how it is that the bots can sometimes declare words like that, that aren't valid but could be (Caesar declared "lipreads" in a game with me just tonight). Do they have a built-in list of plausible but disallowed words?

Yep :) This was quite a lot of work but I felt it added to the realism. I built my own list of phonies from 3 sources:
1) Plausible inflections that aren't actually in (e.g. GAYDARS)
2) Words which are in other dictionaries but not the ODE.
3) Words which have been disallowed on the show.
I find it quite satisfying when they come out with something like FUCKUP which I just never anticipated (and I presume didn't come from source 3.)

At some point I might add to the list based on disallowed words from humans on Apterous.

Kai, I don't even think I've heard from John Bradley since the last time I played a game with him!

Have you talked to him?

My first game was against Plum. Even given that I hadn't yet got the hang of inputting the numbers, it was crap.

http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=1403

I even lost to Prune in our first game. Adding points for the numbers rounds, and my typo in the conundrum, I still would've lost.
Mind you, was Prune better back then? I can't imagine Prune coming up with MANNOSE, IROKO and TRAGUS these days, or at least not all in one game.

Martin, would you please do me a favor?

Would you please ask Kirk why he still won't play against me on Apterous? I told him my chat box wasn't working and apparently he got my message, but has he been busy otherwise?

Working mainly, Jason. I've managed to practise the odd game of Countdown here and there and throw the odd dart or 3. What about you?

So, Ian, you've obviously learned from the old saying. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

Kirk, I have been busy with my current job, and I have just accepted a volunteer position at one of my local hospitals. Don't forget, I can always play the game of Countdown with you every now and then. I know that even though you're better at the numbers game than I am. You must teach some great kids!

Yes Apterous Prune used to be half decent. Or so people on Apterous say. I have not been on Apterous for that long.

Inspired by this thread being resurrected, I took a look back at my first game on apterous. I'm not sure what I'm more surprised by: that I won, or that I didn't have any trouble with the numbers interface. Although on reflection, I think the latter was due to lots of guidance from Henry prior to the first numbers round.

My first game wasn't half bad with some nice words in it. Although I would have got a debut century had the numbers interface not confused me on an incredibly easy numbers game despite Joyce's briefing on it!

Not a bad game, especially considering the poor start.

Liam Tiernan 79 - 59 Adam Gillard

Didn't know what to do in the first 2 numbers rounds and then lost on a crucial :(

So it used to be the case that you would get pencils even if you didn't max the round. That would explain why I got so many pencils in the days when I would consider a 4-max game to be a success.

I am not posting my first game on Apterous. It was so embarrassing! Plus, it didn't help that I was playing someone who was rated 1543!
