Nowt risky about admixes is there?
It happens about once every 4 years, but I had ZEOLITES in rd 1. Not 100% acceptable though, but the concensus when I last posted it was that it'd likely be accepted.
Kirk looks on course for "the record" thus far...

I got TUMEFIES, and MISDATE in the ADMIXES round

. But I failed the first numbers game miserably.

Needs 41 points in the final part, 40 to equal. Should be OK if he scores in every round and gets 10 for the last numbers, could still be robbed by some nasty letters though.

Prediction: Kirk needs 5 points for the record. Kirk to buzz in on 0.25 seconds, say "I love Julian too much. GANDISEEG"

Utterly brilliant, Kirk. I sent a student home early so I could watch the final third live. You really kept the suspense going right to the end. I knew you needed 7 and 8 from the last two letters rounds, saw the 8, but was struggling for the 7. Glad you got it.
Congratulations.

If you think about it though, surely we should add together his score against Richard Pay to his first seven scores in this run?
Surely Julian's record really relates to the player's first eight games, otherwise you could include runs of 8 including finals and stuff.
I'm not so sure the record has fallen if you think about it.

Congratulations Kirk! Unbelievably good performances throughout and what a dramatic finale.
I got ZEOLITES (if it's valid) and MEHENDI as beaters

Truely awesome Kirk - We are all proud of you becoming the best player of all-time on CD.
Gawd knows where you got that last numbers solution from in 30 seconds under that pressure - The old silicone chip must have been in overdrive!
Many congratulations mate.

If there's one guy in the world to love right now, it's Kirk. Perhaps even bumming him would be morally ok. Me: "Yes! Arse-love with kirk! Awesome!" Kirk: "Arse-love + P = OVERLEAPS, + T = ELEVATORS".

Yes, get in Kirk you utter legend!
I was really into that, pacing about the room, and did a little jig when I knew there was a 7 in rd 13 and another jig when you pulled off that tricky final numbers.
Just superb mate, and thoroughly deserved.

Yowzer! that was too close
Absolutely superb Kirk, a great great achievement. Many congrats, thoroughly well deserved record
My mind wasn't concentrating on the game in the last half I was just working out how many points was needed, real nail biting stuff. I thought the last numbers game was going to deny you at the death.
Looks like that new record could last as long as Bob Beamon's long jump record.

The record in consideration was always 'total score for octorun', not 'total points for first 8 games' so no problem.
Unlike the 'highest debut score', which Kirk single-handedly forced to be renamed 'highest challenger score'.

Err bullshit.
Good timing that Julian's missing octochamp games were all put online recently, not sure how their percentages compare but I think Kirk probably deserved to pip him based on not missing as much 'easy' stuff.

We have to wait for Kirk to win the series and CofC before labelling him the best ever. And then there's other stats involved.
Anyway, gutted I couldn't watch the final two thirds of the show, cos of Channel 4's crap web monkeys. I'll save my congrats for after I see the show properly

Yeah I'm pretty furious about this, can someone post round by round details as soon as possible, as I too have only seen the first 5 rounds. FFS!

Amazing stuff Kirk, especially that last numbers game.
I have to say though, this just makes Julian Fell go way up in my estimation. Imagine what he would have been capable of with apterous as a training tool? I think Damian should sanction a Bevins vs Fell face-off!

I was getting really anxious in the last few rounds when it was obvious how close it was going to be, particularly in that last numbers which I couldn't solve. To actually pull it off under all that pressure is stunning. Massive congrats Kirk!

Yes, grrrrr indeed. I only get to watch on catch-up, had been really looking forward to it today, then up come these ladies in hair dryers after just five rounds. Even now I know the result (and congratulations Kirk), I'd still like to see it in moving pictures and sound!

I've informed them using the on-line comment form. If I hear back I'll let you know.
Meanwhile, there's another chance to view. The programme is repeated during the early hours of Friday morning at 5 a.m. on Channel 4, or at 6 a.m. on C4+1.

I'd seen the "will he / won't he" 900+ poll on here but decided not to keep track of the cumulative score and instead just enjoy each new game. What a result at the end though (and what a delivery by Schoolmaster Stelling) - many congratulations on your achievement Kirk. Enjoy the success!!

Me neither. What a bum time to lose two thirds of the show on Catch up.
Hope someone can alert them to the problem so it can be fixed.-
How I wished I had set record on the TV.
I can see from the comments that the game had a thrilling conclusion.
Well done Kirk - we look forward to seeing in the cofC in June.

Or Windows Media Player. I've now reported it as well, and in light of my previous experience I took pains to emphasise as forcefully as I could that the problem is at their end, and please would they not wait 24 hours before sending back a standard email suggesting I upgrade WMP to version 11.
What's really pissing me off is that, having been out of the country for the last two shows, I was actually at home for today's broadcast but opted not to watch it live as I wanted to catch up with parts 6 and 7 of Kirk's octorun first.

I remembered you pestering them a couple of weeks ago, Phil. Well, if they try to suggest it's just an individual's problem, let's just send them a link to this page.
BTW - am trying downloading from 4oD, but it's going to take about an hour, for whatever reason. Still grrrr.
