Andrea
ZOMG SPOILER!
Doesn't that mean you beat Kirk in his seventh game?!
Monday AND Tuesday - that's scary! Agreed should be in Spoiler

So glad Countdown is back today after the racing.
Look forward to seeing you pit your wits against Kirk in his seventh game.
Only hope C4catchup is loaded quickly after the game so I'm not left in suspense for too long.

I bet she really is called Andrea Jones though, and it was someone like Charlie who's already seen all eight games that posted it.

I wondered that, but then I don't think Charlie would "risk it", in the sense that the real "Andrea Jones" would most likely stumble across the site, and be a bit perturbed that somebody was impersonating her. The other options are that Andrea is indeed today's opponent, and either loses and is complicit in the joke (very unlikely), or actually beats Kirk and then loses tomorrow (even more unlikely!)

It's about time Jeff investigated Kirk's paranormal investigations.

I don't think Kirk knew
PESSARIES. It's yet to come up on Apterous, even in Goatdown/Hyper.

Yeah I had DOOMSTER in the audience. Kirk was annoyed to miss that, because it was one of the words we'd specifically covered before he went on.

2nd numbers:
(50 - 6) - (2 + 3 + 8)
or (50 - 9) x ((8 + 6)/2)
Also, was HOURLINES a possibility for Game 7 (?)

Yes OUTFIRED is Scrabble only.
Not sure what dictionary ENSCONDED is in tho...

I was busy claiming an epic victory over Kirk on MSN, but was FRUCTOSE mentioned? I may very well have got the letters wrong.

Yeah this is where Kirk's poor real-world vocabulary let him down. He conflated ENSCONCED and ABSCONDED, and compounded by a persuasive scramble, buzzed too soon.

Saw this game being filmed, but alas couldn't catch it on the telly today. I would like to express that I almost made a sexual explosion when I was sat in the audience with LEXICON and Kirk declared OLEFINIC! Even little 5s like TOWAI make the game more exciting. I HEART KIRK BEVINS

I did know PESSARIES which is why I was annoyed. I learnt a word from life knowledge, which I know is rare for me!

Is the record points total for 8 wins still in with a realistic chance?
How much would Kirk have to average in his last two games (if he wins them) to beat the record?

Just one game left, Jojo, and Kirk needs 114. Well within his compass, I think.

Annoyingly I was confident with ENSCONDED then when there was a massive pause I was dubious. After it was rejected I realised my mistake and immediately got CONDENSED. I wish I'd have waited. I knew I needed 220 over 2 shows to break the 924 record so there was a lot of pressure on that conundrum as I was sat on 106. Means I need 114 or more in tomorrow's show to break 924.
Kai, I was fully aware of a potential record and so I thought go with the safe 7 LEUCOMA instead of LEUCOMAS to guarantee 7 points rather than 0 (if LEUCOMAS turned out bad). Hopefully that 1 point wouldn't matter. I knew LEUCOMAS was OK on apterous but so is stuff like DIORITES which might get rejected by Susie on the mass noun basis and I had a sneaky feeling LEUCOMA was such a mass noun that apterous allows but Susie might not.
Literally every word I saw and didn't risk had been in (including PARTAKER today, I had it written down and didn't risk it). The only word I didn't risk that turned out to be crap was MINIONED^ (I was mixing MINION with PINIONED) but all this safe playing could cost me and I realised that at the time.
Oh, and just look at this - played after I recorded so I can't even blame him for my misrembering of the conundrum:

Oh yeah one game to go, damn that horse racing, it throws your count off. (well that's my excuse anyway

)
114 very realistic, as ever depends on how the rounds go though. Added extra pressure to boot aswell.
It's going to be real close I bet, nail biting stuff. Can't wait to see tomorrow's show.

Analysing my expressions is quite funny. In the OLEFINIC round I was willing an I out and out it popped. You can see for half the time I'm grinning like a Cheshire cat aware that I've probably bagged 8 points here (I did have LEXICON when the letters were coming out too).
You also see me laughing in the WYDAITOTQ round (where I offered TOWAI) as I saw TWAT and was so tempted to offer it instead.

It wasn't until I watched Catch up that I realised I'd been had!
Sitting in the chair was a very strange man who didn't look as if his parents had named him Andrea!
Doh!!! How guillible can you get?
Shall wait in future to actually watch the game before jumping in with a post.
Great game - I only managed to match some words.
I was so pleased I spotted 'lexicon' until Kirk came up with yet another word I had never heard of and probably will not remember for future games.
Hope he gets a good score to complete his Octo run tomorrow.

Another great game, Kirk. Shame you missed PESSARIES and the conundrum. I'm not sure that ENSCONDED is a word but it sounds ok to me. My spell checker doesn't recognise it, although that doesn't mean much as I think it's an American spell checker. I still think you're one of the best contestants I've seen on Countdown and can't imagine how dull it's going to be when you've gone. I just felt so sorry for the opponents.

I don't think anyone thinks it's a word. I imagine Kirk was thinking ENSCONCED + ABSCONDED (he mentioned in another thread he almost used 'minioned' at one point when his brain did MINION + PINIONED).

Yeah, Susie caught me at the end of the recording and said she checked it and it wasn't in. I can't believe she checked it - it was me being stupid. Even Damo said he checked it. I can't believe people have so much faith in me. My vocabulary really is poor.

Well played Kirk, OLEFINIC was lovely, shame about the conudrum eh

Me to Neb: "That's the grin of a person that's just seen TWAT"
I'd have offered it. Sod the points. I deliberately declared FLASHER instead of FLASHIER for the comedy value.

Re REDLINE, Susie made reference to revs in an engine. The rev counter is technically known as the tachometer, but this is not to be confused with the tachograph. Possibly a good pub quiz question?
