Well done Kirk. Another satisfactory ton, (111 = T20, 19 and D16), but it's not a darts score that we want, it's the coveted 147 max score in snooker that we are hoping for. Best wishes for the remaining games and I hope the letters and numbers are kind to you.

I don't think it's fair to blame Barrie for the one-sided game. Perhaps one of the stats buffs could work out how many of last season's players would have finished within - say - ten of Kirk. And as you point out, Barrie has watched the herd of elephants trample four unfortunate saps already and has nowhere to run to.

I'm not blaming Barrie at all Rosemary. My objective is purely to try and give the reader an impression of the game as I see it and Barrie looked very uncomfortable playing someone as good as Kirk, as would most mere mortals.

I have every sympathy for the poor chap, hence using the term coup de grace, alluding to the fact that this was the final blow to put him out of his misery. Before he came on the show he probably had visions of playing someone like Anne Abel and thought he was in with a fair chance of winning a teapot.

In fact, I had exactly the same thoughts in the last series until I came up against a certain Charlie Reams, esq. It's just the luck of the draw and poor Barrie certainly got the shitty end of the stick!

I'm rationing out watching the shows because of the break for the racing (bloomin' sport! )
BTW, did you get a break in recordings, or were they still all done in a couple of days?

Not that I'm ever likely to be in the running for octochampdom, but playing so many games at once would be sure to knock me out.

Since Colin Murray's doing Monday to Thursday next week, thus making the usual five in all, there was presumably no interruption to the recordings, only to the transmissions of the programmes.

After some time in the bar with Rachel, Jeff, Susie, and co and one Box Pizza later (and a max checking session for Wednesday's game of course), Team Kirk retired for the night. This Monday's show and the Mon-Thu episodes of the next week were filmed the next day. Colin Murray features in DC for all of those. There was then a break in filming for a bit less than a month after this, so expect a different DC guest in next Friday's show.

Richard always used to frequent the bar after recordings, even heat recordings. Carol didn't way back in 2001/2, oddly enough.
