He scored points in the first numbers round.Philip A wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:59 pm Dubious record I’m trying to work out.
Today, Ryan scored 84 in all non-numbers games (that is, 10 letters + conundrum for a total of 11 anagramming games). This included his 9-letter word of CREMATION and his conundrum solve.
In contrast, he scored 0 in all four numbers rounds, which is unfortunate. Since the spring of 2013, we’ve had four numbers games per match.
Is 84 the highest total without scoring a single point in any of the four numbers games?
Either way, I think this does show that anagrams and arithmetic are two different card tricks. So to is discrete problem-solving mathematics and puzzles.
Oops, my mistake. So it’s actually 77-7. TBH I did feel for him, he was clearly having a mind block in those numbers games and came up with some good words otherwise. He could easily have scored 107, 117 or even 127.Tom S wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 3:44 pmHe scored points in the first numbers round.Philip A wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:59 pm Dubious record I’m trying to work out.
