On this day in 1986 English singer/songwriter Peter Gabriel released his critically acclaimed 5th album So. It was a commercial success making this his biggest selling album selling over 6 million copies worldwide. This transformed Peter Gabriel from being a cult artist to a mainstream superstar. The lead song Sledgehammer became a huge success peaking at no 4 in the UK charts and peaking at no 1 in the US charts making it his only stateside no 1, the accompanying video was a huge success winning 9 MTV awards ( a record that still stands to this day ) out of the 12 nominations the most ever for a male solo artist. The album itself garnered positive reviews from critics it showcases the songwriting talents of Peter Gabriel, it remains a fan favourite and regularly appears in the best album lists. It is very personal to me I always borrowed this off my late uncle until I bought my own copy.

And here is Peter Gabriel So all in it's glory...............it is one of my all time favourite albums and one that I am proud to own
