Hello and welcome to another Friday recap
On this day in 1959 English Musician and Singer-Songwriter Chris Lowe was born he is one half of the successful synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys with his partner and friend Neil Tennant. They formed in 1981 after meeting in a music shop talking about synthesisers, in their long career that is still going they have sold over 100 million records worldwide making them the most successful duo in music history. The Pet Shop Boys are still going strong making music and touring they have no immediate plans to retire as of yet.
On this day in 1959 former professional snooker player Tony Meo was born, he turned professional in 1979 not long after he signed for Barry Hearn and his Matchroom mob that included his doubles partner Steve Davis they won the world doubles championships an amazing 4 times. Tony Meo and Steve Davis featured on a novelty record called Snooker Loopy with Chas and Dave and other members of the Matchroom Mob such as Dennis Taylor, Willie Thorne, Terry Griffiths on backing vocals it was released in 1986 peaking at No 6 in the charts. A follow up single was released in 1987 called the Romford Rap featuring players such as Jimmy White and Neal Foulds this was less succesful charting at 91 ........less said about it the better ! He retired from snooker in 1997 he now manages a wristwatch and jewellery store in Hatton Garden
