Hello Countdowners and welcome to another recap, today is a very important day as we are on the verge of crowning the second octo-champ of series 90..........will Anna spoil the party ? so let's find out if Rob can achieve his 8th win

On this day in 1957 former English snooker player Steve Davis was born, he turned professional in 1978 becoming one of the youngest players to have done so, He played in his first World Snooker Championship in 1979, having won two qualifying matches, but lost 11–13 to Dennis Taylor in the first round proper, the following year 1980 he reached the quarter finals losing out to the eventual runner up Alex Higgins. After winning his first title, he won the Wilson's Classic in 1980, the Yamaha Organs and English Professional in 1981, he became the bookmakers favourite to win the World Snooker Championships in 1981 despite being the 13th seed, in the semi-final he took out the 1980 world champion Cliff Thorburn who became viction of the crucible curse. In the final he defeated the 14th seed the late Doug Mountjoy 18-12 the first of six world titles, however Steve Davis became the latest victim to the crucible losing heavily to Tony Knowles 10-1 in the first round the following year, in 1982 Steve Davis made the first televised maximum 147 break in snooker history during his quarter-final match against John Spencer, winning a Lada car for his efforts. Outside of snooker Steve Davis regularly participated in professional nine-ball pool events; he was instrumental in creating the Mosconi Cup, he was a participant in the 9 ball world championships, he is a keen chess player authoring several books, he is a keen poker player with many appearances at several events. He is a fan of the prog rock band Magma and a DJ making an appearance at the 2016 Glastonbury festival and supporting Blur at Wembley in 2023. Steve Davis is well known for his sense of humour when the popular TV satire series Spitting Image gave him the nickname Interesting and he finished 8th in the thirteenth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' Steve Davis finally hung up his cue in 2016 and works as a popular broadcaster covering the World Snooker Championships.
