Hello Countdowners and welcome to another recap, after the eggcitment of Easter the yolks are coming thick and fast. After seeing Toby Byfield octo on Friday, we now welcome two new contestants to the Countdown studios. One of those is a familiar face and well known in the Countdown Community or on Crimewatch 10 most wanted faces..............we will be bowled over by his performance on the show or is it just a run of the Mills stuff ????
Which one of these will earn the bragging rights and bag the coveted Countdown Teapot........tune into the show and find out how they both do
C1: Challenger Mark Mills: A long time Stockport County supporter and the long suffering husband of Countdown legend and Series 72 runner up Tracey Mills ( That still stands to this day ) Will he be the fool or will he get the matching teapot ?
C2: Challenger Gillian Beal : Some of you may recognise her from Series 51 where she lost her one and only game to Quarter Finalist Nik Von Uexkull, will history repeat itself or can she go one better and win the long awaited teapot.........or will todays show be a duff-duff moment ?

Mark: HEATER (6)
Gillian: HAIRNET (7)
DC: HIBERNATE (18)
OT: INBREATHE (18)
Score: 8–15 (max 26)
A good 7 from Gillian gives her the lead for the first time...............meanwhile over in brainbox corner they get to shine with a 9 Hibernate.......you guessed it I spotted this one ! You can have a second 9 with Inbreathe but no extra points for it !
Round 3: 50, 100, 4, 3, 1, 9. Target: 490.
C1: 491.
C2: 490. (50 − 4 + 3) × (9 + 1) (10)

Nice and straightforward not too taxing.........but I found a couple of other ways to solve this bad boy

100+10=110
110*4=440
440+50=490
3-1=2
100-2=98
9-4=5
98*5=490
Teatime teaser: RUTHFLAW -> WRATHFUL

Mark: SPOILED (7)
Gillian: SLOPED (6)
DC: DESPOIL (7)
OT: POLYINES (8)
Score: 15–25 (max 44)
A good 7 from Mr Mills that puts him right back in the contest and reduces the arrears to 10 points..........but there was one rather interesting 8 hidden away with Polyines

Mark: RETURNED (8)
Gillian: RETUNRED (8)
DC: INTRUDER (8) UNRETIRED (18)

8s all round from our contestants............over in DC they pull a gem out of the bag with Unretired...............this was one I spotted
Round 6: 50, 6, 10, 3, 2, 8. Target: 327.
C1: 327. Mistake in working.
C2: 327. (50 ÷ 2) × (10 + 3) + 8 − 6 (10)
Score: 23–43 (max 72)
A rather unfortunate mistake from Mark that sees him go 20 points behind..........can Mark pull off a Tracey Mills style comeback and get himself back in the game ? Lets see how these next few rounds go on ?
Round 7: P I W O N U F L E
Mark: WOEFUL (6)
Gillian: FLOWN (5)
DC: UNIFLOW (7)
OT: UNIPOLE (7)
Score: 29–43 (max 79)

Round 8: S G S O A E C T A
Mark: CASES (5)
Gillian: costage
DC: AGATES (6)
OT: GASEOSA (7)
Score: 34–43 (max 86)

Mark: RUSTLERS (8)
Gillian: SLATERS (7)
DC: SALUTERS (8)

Round 13: J O Q L I R U E G
Mark: GLUIER (6)
Gillian: GRUEL (5)
DC: QUIRE (5) LIQUOR (6)
OT: QUOILER (7)
Score: 62–56 (max 126)
Mark has come unstuck with his risky 6 Gluier and it does pay off as it gives him a narrow lead in this rather tight contest...............DC can only match that with Liquor...........but there was one rather interesting 7 hidden away with Quoiler
Round 14: 50, 6, 5, 4, 8, 9. Target: 455.
C1: 455. 50 × 9 + 5 (10)
C2: 455. 50 × 9 + 5 (10)
Score: 72–66 (max 136)
Nice and straightforward........not too taxing........which sets us up nicely for a crucial conundrum..........the question is who will buzz first ?
Round 15: L O R D T O F F Y
No one buzzes. The answer was FORTYFOLD.
Final Score: 72–66 (max 146)
Neither contestant buzzes but it is left to a certain Rachel Riley and our very own recap writer Tracey Mills to solve the conundrum, We have a new champion in Mark Mills who is the newest member of the teapot club, but take nothing away from Gillian you have to feel sorry for her she gave as good as she got sadly it wasn't to be, Join me for the next recap to see if Mark can get his second win..........in the meantime it is bye for now.
