New Countdown Puzzle Book for 2024!

For the first time in 12 years, a brand new official Countdown puzzle book is out now at all good book shops.

Bought myself a copy from Waterstones in Barnstaple this weekend. It has 7 1/2-minute Quizzes, Speed Quizzes, Take on the Show, Themed Conundrums, Themed Letters, Black-Belt Maths, Special Maths, Letters Round Special Challenge, Colin’s Teatime Teasers and even Susie’s Origins of Words!

It’s bigger than A4 too.

Look forward to Volume 2.

Wonder which version of the dictionary it uses...

It doesn’t actually say, but having checked the answers section, I don’t see any words from the historical OED which were previously imported. For the record, I did spot an answer which wasn’t listed but it is in ODP (and the Google dictionary too) and that word is a US term (still permissible on the show unlike US spellings). Still reliable, useful and educational nonetheless; obscure words are defined which is handy.

Volume 1 from 2023 has the now-dead monodias.
