CO MSO Sunday 27th August 2023

Post by Tony Atkins »

CO MSO is on again this year as part of the CO:LON weekend.

It will be held at the Mind Sports Olympiad (see https://mindsportsolympiad.com) at JW3, 341-351 Finchley Road, London NW3 6ET on Sunday 27th August from 10:00 to 18:00. Note this is at a modern Jewish Community Centre and that food and dangerous items may not be brought on site.

The event is 5 round swiss, followed by a final and 3rd place play-off, using the Bristol System where the same letters/numbers are used across each match-up in a round. Apterous dictionary to be used. This is based on the Oxford dictionary which is currently used in the show. Medals will be awarded to the top three as usual.

Thus you have a choice with CO:LON being Lincoln style on the Saturday and MSO on the Sunday - or maybe make
a weekend of it and do both!

Registration to MSO opened 1st July - https://mindsportsolympiad.com/product/countdown/

Details of CO:LON 2023 are here http://www.c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=15901

Just bring normal metal cutlery then.

But if you read the threads from 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022, you'll see that it never gets old. And that's the problem, as the bans only apply to modern Jewish Centres.

What makes you think you'd enjoy Bristol more than Lincoln?

Having attended last year, it was a very enjoyable event and nice to play proper 15 rounders - definitely recommended, although it is somewhat different to most co:events

Not neccessarily better per se but would be easier to organise and would be a level playing field but as I haven't played any Co Events I may be talking crap (that makes a change)

Apart from asking players to post here, is there any way of finding out who is going and maximum players?

I may be an 'on the day' decision - I have a family wedding the day before so really depends which side of 3am I get home!

Is there a database of attending players?
Still not sure if I will come
Maybe some Co Lon players might want to come
Presumably you can rock up on the day and pay
