Spoilers for Friday 31 March (Series 87, Prelim 50)
9 x 8 x (8 + 3) - 6 was staring in the face there and everyone missed it?

Different ways of thinking and solving in 30 seconds, so some people incl. experts are going to miss more obvious words/methods. I had SIXTEENS in the SEPTINES round.Rhys Benjamin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 1:53 pm 9 x 8 x (8 + 3) - 6 was staring in the face there and everyone missed it?

That's weird, because I did it exactly the same way - ((8*9-8)*2+3)*6=786.

Nice 90% max-spotting efficiency from the corner today. Love Levi Roots and other guests who are clearly "in the game".
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

Presumably you start by multiplying the two biggest numbers. 72. If you multiply that by 6*2 you have 864. 78 to find, which is 6*13, so you need to get 8*9*2-13 and multiply it by 6. You have an unused 8 and 3. 13 is 2*8-3. QED.Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 5:48 pmThat's weird, because I did it exactly the same way - ((8*9-8)*2+3)*6=786.
