On this day in 1950 former Genesis frontman and British singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel was born, his iconic music video Sledgehammer from his critically acclaimed 5th album So that was released in 1986. His song Sledgehammer won a record 9 MTV awards ( a record that still stands to this day ) it always features most of the top 10 lists of the best videos, and has won a Brit award in 1987 for the best music video.
