I've become a ratings wanker
I've become a ratings wanker
Tis in the title.
Have honestly never given a toss about apto ratings. But am teetering on the cusp of 1700 and am properly caring for the first time! 1700 was stuff of dreams...! With higher ratings come bigger falls - a loss to a lower rated players I frequently lose to and I'm down 20+ points!
(Credit the boost to Rob - have been half-arsedly Ankiing his list for the last few weeks! - cheers Roberto!)

I don't know about Apterousbut there are scrabble players who won't enter small tournaments for fear of losing ratings points.

There are treatments available on the NHS for this.
Re: I've become a ratings wanker
haha yep - that's always been and still is my philosophy - I'd never decline a game because of ratings fears. But 1700 would be nice - suspect it will all go south very soon and I'll stop caring againMarc Meakin wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 9:15 pm I don't know about Apterousbut there are scrabble players who won't enter small tournaments for fear of losing ratings points.

And that's the thread. That was enjoyable.
Re: I've become a ratings wanker
Well I think there are two valuable lessons to be ignored here -
1) Don't play apto after wine
2) Don't post on c4c after wine

Re: I've become a ratings wanker
It took 7 games to gain 28 points
It took 1 loss to take away 26 of them.
Can be a cruel cruel system at times...
