I was doing what most 50 somethings do at some point and was reminiscing about childhood days.
I came to the conclusion I was shit at virtually everything
Couldn't :
Swim
Juggle
Do Rubiks Cube
Skip solo
Boomerangs didn't come back
Handstands
Cartwheels
Pogo stick
I was 14 when I learned to ride a bike
Tie Shoe laces (can't do that now cos I'm too fat)
See what's in those Magic Eye pictures.
Set the timer on a cooker
Roller skate.
Blow bubbles with bubble gum
Whistle
Spontaneously burp.
Skate board
Surf

A lot of these seem pretty generic and the sort of thing most or at least lots of people wouldn't have been able to do. Though I certainly nailed riding a bike way before you.

Did they even have those Magic Eye pictures back when you were a lad?

How many kids did you know that could juggle, or surf? You might as well include paragliding and scoring century breaks in snooker.

Out of the whole list, I could only do four of them (and even that requires me to be a bit flexible with the conditions required for me saying I could do them).

Handstands and cartwheels I could never do (since I used to have very poor muscles). I could, however, do the splits (and was still capable of doing so in to my teen years, albeit with a lot less frequency because of the risks attached).

Not sure how you equate juggling and surfing with scoring a century at snooker.
Maybe your definition of a kid is different to mine.
I was thinking under 16.
I have been to Cornwall as a kid and saw some kids surfing.
My sister could juggle in her early teens and she wasn't especially talented (No Ronnie O Sullivan)

Okay maybe I slightly exaggerated, but I really don't think that the majority of kids are capable of juggling (and I'm talking actual juggling, not just tossing balls between hands very slowly - admittedly an activity I haven't even mastered as an adult).

By juggling I mean 3 tennis balls/large Oranges.
Im not referring to flaming swords and the like

Yeah, most people can't juggle. It takes a particular effort to learn and most people don't do it.

If I look at the ones people can do it might be quicker.

I think most children can skip to some extent. Most learn to swim but with very differing levels within that. 14 is quite late to learn to ride a bike. Whistling takes some effort to learn. Most children probably manage it at some point. Most children will learn to tie shoelaces though at varying ages. Setting the timer on a cooker probably just takes a minute of trial and error.

Pogo sticks are just something you read about in old books. Not convinced they really exist. Like slide rules.

Meh, I'm not great at it, but it took me five minutes to grasp the basics.
