Damian Eadie - Radio Humberside Interview

Post by Katherine Birkett »

Damian is currently giving an interview to Peter Levy on BBC Radio Humberside. If you can't tune in, the show should be available on 'listen again' later today on the Radio Humberside website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/humber/local_radio/

EDIT: Interview finished 12:54. Peter is aiming to book Rachel R as a guest on his show in the next few weeks

Excellent thanks. I followed the link and your time thing helped as I fast forwarded it to "53" and heard Damian. For anyone else wanting to watch, Damian's piece starts on 44 minutes (out of the 2 hours on the site) and is quite funny. Good to hear.

Is there any way to listen to it via Windows Media Player, instead of having to install Real Player.

The link is still live. Did you skip to the point in the show where Kirk said that the interview with Damian takes place?

Here's the feed: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/aod/playli ... erside.ram
Here's Real Alternative (which I know works for video so should also for audio too): http://www.codecguide.com/download_real.htm
EDIT: Probably should have given more explanation - Real Alternative is a codec you can install that allows Windows Media Player to play Real Player files

Thanks Katherine, I really enjoyed listening to Damian and hearing about how they chose Rachel, etc. The best bit is that the ratings are good which of course guarantees plenty more years for the show. Look forward to hearing Rachel's comments when she's on, so hope you'll be kind enough to post the link on this site as I'm pretty sure I can't get Radio Humberside from where I live in Spain.

I'm not sure who Peter Levy is, but I would guess he's a DJ!

Yes. Damian has a great voice!

You know, I called the Countdown offices quite a while ago, I spoke to Sarah and if I can recognize her voice I can recognize Damian's!

That wasn't my point. My point was you should know who Peter Levy is. Also has Damian answered your calls before? If not, how do you recognise it?

Yes, I listened to the interview and regardless of how he sounds, I should recognize his voice!

Also, when Jeff Stelling and Rachel Riley were named the new hosts of Countdown I called Kate's line, she wasn't there and I spoke to Sarah. I told her how thrilled I was about that!

He's a cult figure in my area of the UK, as a presenter of the BBC's regional news programme for this area, called Look North. It's broadcast to East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, while his radio programme goes out to what was the county of Humberside up until the 1990s, when it went back to being called East Yorkshire, hence Radio Humberside.

There are running jokes during his banter with weather presenter Paul Hudson (swoons a little) about whether or not his hair is real, his alleged fondness for artificial face tanning products (yet to be proven outright), people e-mail in if they've seen Peter and Paul doing odd things (mainly for them to keep the point-scoring between them going over the years), Peter's alleged string of ex-girlfriends, whether or not Paul's forecasts are accurate.... basically, they like to have a bit of a laugh and get a dig in or two during the weather segment of the show. They have semi-regular meet and greets with people in the region (going to shopping centres, doing Outside Broadcasts during the summer at seaside resorts on the E. Yorks / Lincs coast).

Here's a pic of Peter:

And this is the lovely, cheeky weather chappie (fans herself with a birdwatching magazine):

Swoons a bit more............. ** THUD **

The programme is a mixture of news, interviews and music.

Thanks for posting. Damian sounded relaxed. A change from the CofC recordings. Pinky would have been a great alternative to Jeff, but Perky's maths sucks.

Thanks for the post Katherine just listened and enjoyed Damian he talks well of the shows prospects long may he reign please let us know if Rachel gives an interview. Hearing of Rachel's footballing prowess we may well see more sport orientated guests though I doubt if Mr Sachs will be back.

Thank you, Katherine!

I think Damian sounds like Ringo Starr!

I hope he would take that as a complement!

Thanks for posting this, which I found very interesting.
