I think a Puzzles and Games subforum was mooted before, and debate was indecisive. Since I mostly browse via the View active topics feature, the subforum system doesn't affect me all that much, but it's sometimes useful if you're looking for an old thread or for newbies getting a feel for the place. For this reason I'd tend to advocate such a feature. But I know other people like fewer forums (for whatever reason) so I thought I'd put it to a vote.

Sound like a sensible suggestion, as there's a significant number of threads that would come into that subforum.

Also request subforum for gays.

I think it's a good idea. It would tidy up the off-topic forum.

Also looking through the off-topic forum, 11 threads have been locked, so you could delete these as well.

IMO, If a thread has been locked, then you would assume that the topic was not worth discussing in the first place, so there would be no point to have it.

Also, I'm not entirely sure what I should refer to him as, since there isn't anything in the dictionary yet for the homosexual 'equivalent' of fiance(e) anyway.

IMO, If a thread has been locked, then you would assume that the topic was not worth discussing in the first place, so there would be no point to have it.

If it was a divisive and bloody fight that was locked before people were going to (cyber-) murder each other then it would certainly be worth a look.

^ This. Also it's only ever worth deleting things if you need the space - information is good (plus it might be a good example of what not to do, too).

Nor likely to be I suspect, unless you go for old-fashioned whimsy like 'intended'. Likewise, and rather more annoyingly in my experience, there is no convenient verb akin to 'marry' to describe the act of entering into a civil partnership. (In desperation, one friend who sent a card for ours congratulated us on becoming 'civilised', which doesn't capture entirely the right sentiment, I feel.)

I would condone a gay sub-forum, but then where would gay puzzles and games go? Things would soon get out of hand.

However it would be useful to move all the existing topics on the subject into this new forum, so I would like someone to trawl through all the old topics and send me a list of what should be moved. In return I will convey moderator privileges for the new forum onto said person. If you want to do it as a team effort then that's fine too.

I spotted the 'he' ref to fiance, too. Gaydar started spinning immediately.

Interestingly my ex-snoggee, who I bumped into at audition and who is filming today, has stayed away from this place / Apterous cos it was giving her the frighteners. Not that it had anything to do with sexuality, you lot are just too good at the game.

If we have a gay sub-forum then I would also like a bisexual-novelist-and-mother-of-small-baby forum, which I could use for talking to myself, a much-neglected art. I could create several different alter-ego logins and flame myself. Ooh, what fun! Make it immediately.

I didn't realise you had a baby

Six months old today. Also pox-ridden at present, and therefore having more than usual impact on my ability to practise Countdown.

As it is my brain loses significant capacity whenever he's around. His survival demands a high proportion of my concentration, leaving little left for things like Countdown! He also frequently affects my ability to type, when he refuses to be put down and I have to type one-handed whilst simultaneously fielding his attempts to grab and taste everything within reach. You might notice me suddenly become lower-case and typo-ridden. This is why.
