News updates:

At the halfway stage, Joseph Bolas is leading as the only undefeated player. There have been numerous cracking games; more details when I get time.

After 6 rounds, Kirk has finally ended Joseph Bolas's winning streak and taken the top spot. Both of them, and Jono, lead the pack with 5 wins. Paul has the top spread (+171) but has only 4 wins.

After 7 rounds, Kirk leads Joseph Bolas on spread (with both on 6 wins), with Paul, Jono and Corby chasing on 5 wins. The game between Kirk and Jono was a classic, but the foolish ginger bottled the last numbers and went down 79 - 103. In other good news, the demands of James' in-laws have now been satisfied.

After 8 rounds, we have our first rematch of the tournament, as leaders Joseph and Kirk are once again pitted against each other. Kirk was once again the victor to hold on to his position at the top of the table, thanks in no small part to his beautiful spot of ANTICLINE, simultaneously tying the record score (158). His own record score, that is. Commanding wins from Paul (CORNMEAL, FLEXURAL, HAIRLINE) and Jono (DENATURED, LOWLIEST, HEADLONG) leave them in 2rd and 3rd place, with the coveted top two spots (and places in the final) still very much up for grabs. At the other end of the table, Callum Laddiman has put in some good performances but is yet to record his first win, but a 9th round pairing with uni-winner Ben Hunter may offer some respite... We shall see!

After 9 rounds, we have Paul, Jono and Kirk on 7 wins, and Corby and Bolas on 6 wins with much lower spread, so it looks likely that the finalists will be Kirk and the winner of the next round match up between Paul and Jono. The next six places are equally competitive, as all six players have 5 wins. The final round looks set to be a cracker!

End of the main tournament The round robin is over, and Paul emerges as clear leader with 8 wins in 10 games. Corby defeated Kirk 112-102 after a third conundrum. However he stills edges Jono for second place by just 3 points of spread, so he takes the second spot in the grand final; and that's is coming up next, so stay tuned!

It's all over! Kirk won the first game of the final, but some superb matchplay from Paul saw him emerge the overall victor by 2 games to 1. All hail the first Aptobashochamp; take a bow, Mr Paul Howe!
