It's fine, we'll just play the tournament on MSN Messenger instead.

Are we supposed to know our starting groups or anything yet? I thought the draw was going to be done beforehand, have I missed it?

In case anyone's wondering, we are now back up. Last minute disaster averted by a well-placed boot to the power switch.

I thought it was just me, having failed to load a number of times in the last hour, but now I've seen the recent posts in this thread it looks like a more general problem.

I'm hoping todays duel (whatever it is) will roll over to tomorrow, unless it's fixed prior to midnight anyway. I could've done it when I got in at 6:30am, but the results would've been interesting to say the least...

Today's Duel will indeed be a rollover. We're having some Internet connectivity issues here at Apterous HQ so there may be disrupted service for a few days yet.

It's back up. I left a half-implemented feature in the release version and it didn't play nicely with the server. Mea culpa. Duel will roll over yadda yadda.

Yes, but literally at ten past midnight. I got in first but I'm not sure my crappy score is a fair trade-off for that.

Call GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alternatively, accept it's broken currently and either bug Charlie non-stop until it's fixed, or patiently wait for it to be fixed.

I prefer my first suggestion though.

Aw, now I feel bad for Kountdown's creator. It's a perfectly serviceable litle site. It's not his/her fault that Charlie came along with the time, energy and talent to make Apterous!

It's back. I finally managed to catch the bug red-handed, and I've rolled out a temporary fix this morning, so hopefully things should be a bit more stable after the mess of last week. For anyone curious, there was a deadlock that occurred only if one person logged in just as another person was updating their player roster (e.g. as someone else logged out.) That's why I could never reproduce it in testing.

I got in and chatted fine in the window. I also played both duels fine. Then when trying to challenge someone, no boxes came up. They tried challenging me but my name wasn't in the players list apparently. I decided to log out and back in but when I logged out, I couldn't get back in as it said "socket error: connection reset" or something. Grrr.

It's been acting weird all night. I had a duel listed in the Games in Progress, but as far as I know I've done all my duels. The Resume button was disabled when I highlighted it.

Also when I tried to resume a goatdown against someone, I got two Challenge rectangles in the big text box at bottom (both referring to same game), lots of beeps, but when I highlighted them, couldn't accept challenge... then they both disappeared, as did the game from Games In Progress list. Hope this is helpful...

Can't get onto apterous to catch up my duels. I've tried a few times, but keep getting error message "socket exception connection reset".

Hope Charlie manages to sort these problems soon. Don't know how many duels he'll roll over either. Annoying. :(

I had the same - but keep refreshing it and you can get onto the server. It took me progressively longer each time, probably thirty refreshes last time.

I stupidly clicked on the java update this month, got the exclamation marks back, and thought it was working ok...until yesterday's duel froze after round 4. If the duels are rolling over again (I suspect they aren't), and I can resume it/replay it (without cheating - there's a thought) then great, if not then I demand this clique be stopped once and for all.

Ah, so is it a Java problem, then, Dan?

Too late for me to do any now though, I may as well get some sleep and try again later.

I don't think having difficulty getting onto the server has anything to do with which java version you're using, if that's what you mean. Seems there's still some gremlins for Charlie to fix somewhere, although once it loads everything was working fine for me.

I was referring to a different problem which occurred last month - sorry for the confusion.
