This first Teaser has an alternate answer which permits the following (simpler, IMO) clue:
CLAMPONIT - "His car wasn't parked illegally; in fact, it obeyed the traffic laws."

Extending on that, I can see Bob posing at least a bit of a threat in the finals, though his conundrums are definitely a weakness.
