Well played today by the way.

I think Jan always knew she was likely to struggle today, but her score probably doesn't fairly reflect how well she would normally expect to have done. 0 on the numbers, when on another day it could have been 30 or 40.

Jesus f**k - dark

Oh well, no one knew Alex would suffer that since this was recorded on Tuesday, 13 March, some two months before he suffered that unfortunately. Nevertheless, wishing him a great recovery! And I seriously hope Gavin's post was sarcasm though... (P.S. Nice hairstyle Zarte! You looked fabulous! )

I may as well do some analysis and for all seven Finals as the days progress so here goes for today but first, the main stuff:

Alternative for R3: (10 + 7 - 6) x 3 x 25
Alternative for R6 if you want to use all the Numbers: (75 x (25 - 8 - 7))- 10 - 1
AIRBUS to tie for R5 as well...was flying in an A320 when this was airing so that helped me slightly. ;)

First things first, wow that was a HUGE, MASSIVE thrashing. I'd expected Jan to lose very badly but never in my dreams would I realise THIS bad...over 100 Point difference! That just proves two things: Anything can happen and my game is flawed so I'll tweak it come Series 79 Finals in December.

Letters: R4, well done on the CAMOGIE spot, that one beat me flat and R8, ETALONS, nearly forgot that word existed, just goes to show how much I hate Physics... Well done for that ESTIMATOR spot as well which pushed your score up even further!

Numbers: Only R14 was a bit tricky, the rest were pretty much straightforward if you used the large numbers to your advantage. Poor Jan, I would've expected her to score at least three of them but alas, she got nothing in the end which is a disappointment. :(

Conundrum: Solved it in 11 seconds...haha maybe all the visiting to Mao Ze Dong and Emperor Qin's MAUSOLEUM in Beijing and Xi An respectively helped me here! :) My goal is to solve at least two in the Finals so halfway mark! :) However, expect harder ones coming our way!

So with that, Jan ends her run with 5 Wins and 492 Points while Zarte continues on with 9 Wins and 1091 Points. But hey, Rachel commended Jan's performance and I'm with her as well! I loved her attitude and humour throughout the time she was on the show and I'm sorry to see her get literaly rekt by Zarte... :(

Alright, tomorrow 15 June, "First 21st Century Born Octochamp" Toby McDonald vs "Diehard F1 Fan" Philip Aston, this is going to be a tough match to call, see who wins! :)

Progress:
QF1 (14 June): Zarte Siempre vs Jan Pask (124 - 19)
QF2 (15 June): Toby McDonald vs Philip Aston
QF3 (18 June): Chris Thorn vs Dougie Mackay
QF4 (19 June): Phil Davies vs Paul Harper
SF1 (20 June): Zarte Siempre vs (QF4 Winner)
SF2 (21 June): (QF2 Winner) vs (QF3 Winner)
GF (22 June): (SF1 Winner) vs (SF2 Winner)

I'm always a bit surprised there never seems to be a problem getting number eight seeds to turn up. You've already achieved what you hoped for, you've been on TV, you've enjoyed it, you've got your teapot. You've shown you're pretty good at Countdown. Indeed you're good enough to recognise that you have absolutely no chance of winning, you'll do well not to lose by forty points or more. Sorry, family crisis . . .
