Well not obvious to me as I'm not down with the kids.
It seems you can video call anyone with a smart phone using Google Duo.
I am aware you can on Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger as I often contact my daughter in Japan.

How people should use twitter: They should read all the replies to a tweet before replying. If someone else has already said the thing you were going to say, don't reply. If your excuse is there are too many replies to read so the thing you were going to say needs to be said, relax. If there's that many replies to read, someone has said it. You are not that original. No one is.

Also if that happened there would be far fewer replies so would be easier to read them all anyway. Good idea. Probably one for the things that will never happen thread though :)

How brilliant Tom Odell is.
Just caught a new? song of his on the radio, Best Day of my Life and with the beauty of Alexa played some of his back catalogue and never realised these great tunes were him

This is something I actually realised ages ago, but that Tipperary is a real place. I thought it was made up for the song. If it doesn't exist, it works better because you're always a long way from it wherever you are.

In terms of a quiz question, for example I said that The Black Eyed Peas first hit was Where is the Love but apparently a previous song got to 52 but was still considered a "hit"

Other countries' money can be made obsolete - it's not just ours. When I found out that someone had a load of the old paper £20 notes, I thought how ridiculous of them. But then I thought that I've still got a load of US money from my last visit a few years ago. I didn't bother changing it back with the idea that I'd likely go back eventually. But they could change all their notes just like happens in the UK sometimes. And I'd lose all that money.

Well they do a top 100 now. It says here that the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles uses the top 75 definition. But it seems to me a subjective term and poor quiz-setting form.

It's pretty well established, and enables consistency. Also, numerous old songs hang around in the lower reaches of the chart, and make a mockery of longevity records if you include the top 100. As with any question, as long as you clearly define what you're asking, it's not a problem.

It's not clear they did define it in Marc's quiz from the context.

(It would seem a bit pointless to say it at all if you have to define it every time. You might as well say "Top 75 hit" rather than "Hit single - by the way that means it reached the top 75".)

It wasn't a quiz per se.
Someone asked me to name a band whose first hit was in my opinion their best hit and I answered Black-Eyed Peas with Where is The Love.
Someone said it wasn't their first hit......

The reason "wanker" became an insult probably wasn't because people thought the act contemptible in itself, but because it implied that the person didn't have other options.

The phrase "break a leg", meaning "I hope the acting audition goes well for you", came about because broken legs get out in casts.

On a related note, the bass line for 'Plug in Baby' by Muse is almost identical to 'Sexy Boy' by Air. Songs I've both known for about 20 years but only had the similarity pointed out to me recently.

Right, well, that's all well and good, but I saw something say something on Reddit, and that IS gospel. Honestly, this is why no one should ever try to corroborate anything, accuracy is just unhelpful.

Inspired by yesterday's teatime teaser, this lollipop song and this one are different songs. Why are there so many songs about lollipops that sound basically the same? It would be weird anyway without them sounding the same.

There was an episode of QI where they mentioned a guy in history who could read silently and without moving his lips and this impressed people at the time and, if that's true, I've just realised that the first person who sang and played guitar at the same time must have seemed like a fucking wizard or something.
