What is the point of this?

Hi, everyone!
I know that in the General section of the forum, you say that you all don't bite, but I have a question.
What are you meaning to tell each other when you show your senses of humor?
For example, there was a thread in this forum with the subject of just one period. Why would someone do this, and what is the point of it?
Maybe I don't understand all of your senses of humor.
Could someone please explain this to me and shed some light on it?
