Here's the updated PB list. There were improvements from Dan Byrom, Matt Could and Junaid Mubeen, and I've added Dave Robjohns, Melody Coupe, Rachael Montgomery and Adam Beach to the list. We're now on 70! Also I'm considering doing an age-graded percentage list as well.
Gavin Chipper wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2015 8:39 pm Right, I'm going to put up a ranking list of Countdown/Apterous parkrunners. I'll check it every so often to see if anyone's beaten their PB, and if anyone is really insistent that they don't want to be on the list, then I can remove their name. And if I've forgotten anyone, let me know and I can add them. This list is unlikely to be anywhere near exhaustive.

OK, so here is the age-grade percentage list for you to look at. Some people have gone up; some people have gone down compared to the time list. You can see what has happened to you. A few random highlights - Tim Springett has gone from 8th to 3rd; David Williams has gone from 36th to 6th; Matthew Tassier has gone from 25th to 10th; Harry Whitehouse from 46th to 13th; Fiona T from 53rd to 21st. Interestingly Mike Springett has leapfrogged a few people and gone from 20th to 18th. He was in the 18-19 category when he got his best percentage, but there's not that much difference between that and being in your 20s I think. I think what did it for him was that he set his time in 2011, and they used to have different (easier) tables, so it's a bit of a hack!

1. John Ashcroft - 84.59%
2. Oliver Garner - 81.13%
3. Tim Springett - 80.22%
4. Gevin Chapwell - 77.66%
5. Tim Down - 76.90%

14. Harry Whitehouse - 68.84%
15. Andy Noden - 67.91%

18. Matt Gould - 66.56%
19. Thomas Carey - 65.93%
20. Richard Barnett - 65.80%

I think Springett's percentage would be 63.05 with the current tables putting him back to 25th, but there might also be other old times affected by this.

Nice. I'm hoping to get back to parkrun at some point in the next few months once my injuries improve, then I'll be trying to get my times back to anywhere near what they used to be, I'm five minutes and more off my best at this stage.

What up. We decided to make a countdowners 'running club' that you can put on your parkrun profile and stuff. Even if you're a member of a real club you can still add this one as a non primary one so people can see results and stuff https://www.parkrun.org.uk/groups/48972/
cheers maus

Also, for those of you who don't know the 5k parkrunner results app (developed by Michael Clayton and on Android and Apple) is quite a good app to keep up with parkrun stuff. It also has some of the naughty stats that parkrun got rid of, like fastest times on each course.

But anyway, it allows you to run leagues on it, with results based on age grade percentage rather than absolute time. So if anyone is interested, I might run a league on this. I think you select how long it runs for and it automatically does a table or something. Maybe I'll set it to start in a couple of weeks or so to give people a chance to sign up. I think it will give me a code to sign up which I can put on here and Strava and wherever else is deemed appropriate.

I've set up a league on the 5k app. If I've done it correctly, the first parkrun to count should be the one on 24th August (CO:LON weekend). I've set it for 8 weeks, which is the minimum to see how it goes. You can join the league with the following code: sEHsRS@PgDLV

yeah the one thing I don't like about the app is the confusing menus!

But this one is the hamburger top left (next to where it says 'Me') then Leagues. + bottom right to join. (This is android - dunno about ios!)

Hamburger! Is that the standard name for the three lines?

Well it was kind of a rhetorical question really!

Also, spoilerz. One for the coincidences thread.

The only menu I have is the settings menu reached from my profile page, and that certainly doesn't have a leagues option. is it possible there's more than one parkrunner app?

There are several apps!

The one that says it's by Michael Clayton. It's not an official app in any way as far as I understand.

Me, Fiona Titcombe and Ollie all did the Hampstead Heath parkrun before CO:LON. Samuel Stock did Wycombe Rye. Matthew Tassier did Northala Fields. (I think we can still count him because he was paid up to play and did actually turn up.) Is there anyone else before I update the championship?

Also this was the first week of the 5k app league. There are are few people on that that aren't on my PB list, so I should add them, along with Samuel Stock and Joseph Henry (who was at CO:LON but didn't do a parkrun on the day).

I've updated the PB list for the first time since May, and it's probably the biggest single update that there's been. The list has gone up from 70 to 80 people, with the inclusion of new people who have done a parkrun at a CO-event, but also I've looked at the league on the 5k app and the Strava group to collect more people. So the 10 new people we have are Steven Grady, Samuel Louis, Joseph Henry, Richard Barnett, Elwin Carlos, David Benson, Maria Chandler, Max Allison, Noel McIlvenny and Shirleyann Moran. Max Allison jumps to 3rd on the list with his time of 17:05! There have also been improvements from Adam Dexter, Dave Robjohns, Melody Coupe, Suzy Turner, Rachael Montgomery, Tom Rowell, Junaid Mubeen, Thomas Carey, Dan Byrom and Matthew Tassier. So that's 10 improvements to go with the 10 new entries. It's a big update so if you notice any errors or omissions, let me know.

And this is the updated percentage list, with Matthew Tassier's link changed to the correct one as well. In future, I doubt I'll do both lists on the same day. Too tedious and time-consuming!

The BBC has an article on parkrun as it's the 20th anniversary.

This league came to its conclusion at the weekend. 18 people signed up for it, and here are the final standings:

1. Matthew Tassier - 139
2. Gevin Chapwell - 133
3. Fiona T - 103
4. Matt Gould - 98
5. Samuel Louis - 96
6. Richard Barnett - 93
7. Dan Byrom - 78
8. Thomas Carey - 70
9. Chris Marshall - 67
10. Rachael Montgomery - 43
11. Ian Volante -37
12. Dave Robjohns - 35
13. Paul Talmey - 33
14. Adam Dexter - 30
15. Elwin Carlos - 13
16. Callum Todd - 10
17. Bradley Horrocks - 8
18. Eeshan Malhotra - 0 (didn't do any parkruns in the 8-week period)

Well that was fun. Well done to Matthew for winning. Maybe I'll set up another one at some point, or maybe someone else will.

I'm on holiday in Japan ATM and I did Tsurumi parkrun this morning. It was only when I was talking with the run director that I realised I've now done parkrun in five different countries:

England (various)
Poland-Krakow parkrun (twice)
Finland-Tokoinranta parkrun in Helsinki (also twice)
Germany Aachaner Waiher parkrun Cologne
And now....

Japan-Tsurumi Ryukochi parkrun in Osaka

In other communities I'd probably have a shot at the record
, but knowing you lot I'm probably about 27th lol. Nonetheless if no one pipes up I'm officially claiming this insignificant record...

England (loads), Germany (loads), Scotland if it counts (Oriam and Queen's Glasgow for co events), Austria (all but Graz, there's only 4), Ireland (Knocknacarra and Cabinteely for co events), USA (Cornerstone Lakes first place two weeks ago). So 5, or 6 if you count Scotland. Doing Lithuania with Fiona next month, and next time I'm in Berlin for academic stuff I'll try to get the close-ish one in Poland

Quick check of the 5K app looks like Fiona has 6 (England, Denmark, France, Australia, Ireland, Netherlands - plus Scotland and Wales). There's the new benchmark
