No beaters today but a few alts about, eg CRUDDIER to INCURRED.
As far as I am concerned (and as it turned out the contestants) 1L is a gamble.
Alt method for 199 (75-9)x(8-5)+1
I was impressed by Ms Evans's 869 solve, though - be interesting how she gets on tomorrow against Antoinette.

Very amusing, Rachel (the player) must have been the only person in the studio (if not the country!) who didn't get the conundrum FORWARDED after David had tried FORWARDER!

Glad to see the back of Michael Whitehall in dictionary corner today. Totally phoning it in. Didn't even try to hide his disinterest when reading Susie's words out. There must be better guests out there.
