Mark Murray continues to roll on, getting a 5th win with an average of over 111 per game. Will he get the 6th? If he does, I believe that will clinch him a place in the finals and make him, in my opinion, a real threat to win it all.

Join James for the recap later.

I did not think this was until later on, but today's challenger is Apterite Peter Steggle, known to us as Pete Steg. He also has had a brush with success before, being the captain on the Bakers team on Only Connect who lost to Michael Wallace and the boys on the Board Gamers. We'll see how this clash goes.

Standard method for round 3 was (100-75-9)×50+8=808.

Man, the standard Mark's gone against is unbelievable. Well done pulling it off yet again against another very tough opponent in Peter. And unlucky Peter, you too probably could have been one of the top 5 contestants of this series had you not gone against Mark. Good lord Mark's run and his opponents that he's had to face.

Another great game, well done both. :) Mark's nerves must be near shattered with the murderers' row he is facing. ;)

Wow, these great games keep coming! Mark's nerves must be shredded by now as once again he played superbly but only sealed it with the great conundrum spot. Peter was also excellent and was very unlucky, especially if he was only a fraction of a second behind on the conundrum. It's a shame these two had to come up against each other in the heats in a series lacking in top quality.

I make the maxes count 13-11 to Mark, assuming there were no beaters available. This must surely be a record for heats.

Just one thing to say: AMAZEBALLS!
Sad to see Peter Steggle lose, but what a game!

I had (100+(75*6)/(50*9))*8, using the quantox-avery method of reduction.

Yeah, I thought Runge-Kutta might be best at first but you're quite right of course.

I think with the opponents Mark's faced, he'll find the knockout stages easier!

I was just looking at the wiki page for this and got it this way and remembered you had too. It would be great to see someone on the show making two lots of 450 and then dividing them by each other.
