Enjoy the show.

Round 1: T R S K A E U O G

Ann: OUTRAGES (8)
Adaam: OUTRAGES (8)
DC: SKATER (6) RAGOUTS (7)
Score: 8–8 (max 8)

Good start here, with both players spotting the darren.

Round 2: B E I W R M E A P

Ann: AMPERE (6)
Adaam: BEWARE (6)
DC: EMPIRE (6)
OT: BEAMIER (7) EPIMERA (7)
Score: 14–14 (max 15)

Sixes from the studio, but there were two sevens lurking.

Round 3: 100, 9, 1, 10, 4, 7. Target: 558.

Ann: 559. (100+10)x(4+1)+9 (7)
Adaam: 557. (100+10)x(4+1)+7 (7)
RR: 558. (100-7)x(10-4) (10)
Score: 21–21 (max 25)

The contestants are one away either side, Rachel gives us the exact solution.

Teatime teaser: TERMSDUE -> MUSTERED

Round 4: S Z P E I O M S A

Ann: IMPOSES (7)
Adaam: POSIES (6)
DC: IMPASSE (7)
Score: 28–21 (max 32)

A nice bit of banter between Ann and DC at the end of this round, as we find out she had both of the sevens available. Good stuff.

Round 5: G D H S E O E I R

Ann: HEDGES (6)
Adaam: sedgier
DC: HOSIER (6) SHORED (6) HEROISED (8)
Score: 34–21 (max 40)

Adaam risks a seven but it's not in the dictionary, so Ann's lead is extended.

Round 6: 100, 1, 6, 10, 9, 3. Target: 830.

Ann: 830. (100-9-6-3+1)x10 (10)
Adaam: 830. (100-9-6-3+1)x10 (10)
Score: 44–31 (max 50)

Nice straight forward numbers game to beef the scores up a bit.

Colin Murray talks about numbers in sport, including the origins of the term 'hat-trick'.

Round 7: N R S X A E I O T

Ann: NOTARISE (8)
Adaam: RATIONS (7)
DC: TREASON (7) SENATOR (7)
OT: NOTARIES (8)
Score: 52–31 (max 58)

A classic Countdown word from Ann sees her lead grow to 21 points. She's looking comfortable now.

Round 8: I N O M R A U N E

Ann: MORAINE (7)
Adaam: ENAMOUR (7)
DC: ROMAINE (7)
OT: NEUROMA (7) NOUMENA (7) REUNION (7)
Score: 59–38 (max 65)

Nice flat round, seven for everyone.

Round 9: 100, 7, 9, 10, 5, 4. Target: 555.

Ann: 555. (100+10)x5+9-4 (10)
Adaam: 556.
Score: 69–38 (max 75)

Ann beats Adaam in the numbers round to extend her lead even further.

Teatime teaser: PUREFISH -> FURPHIES

Nice TTT there.

Round 10: O Y D L I E D R T

Ann: TODDLER (7)
Adaam: TODDLER (7)
DC: DOILY (5)
OT: DELTOID (7) LYDDITE (7) TIDDLER (7) TIREDLY (7)
Score: 76–45 (max 82)

TODDLER from both contestants and DC. A particularly nice seven available there is LYDDITE, which is an explosive used by Britain in the first World War. Google tells me that it contains picric acid, which I assume is the acid from which PICRATE is formed, another good Countdown word.

Round 11: P J V C I E U E B

Ann: PUBIC (5)
Adaam: PUBIC (5)
DC: JUICE (5)
OT: CUVEE (5) JUVIE (5) PIECE (5)
Score: 81–50 (max 87)

PUBIC JUICE here.

Susie's Origins of Words is all about crocodile tears today.

Round 12: S N I A P E O F L

Ann: INSOLE (6)
Adaam: PLANES (6)
DC: SNAP (4) LIFESPAN (8)
Score: 87–56 (max 95)

Sixes from the contestants, while DC's crocodile SNAPs away at a LIFESPAN.

Round 13: D S G T V A I E D

Ann: ADVISED (7)
Adaam: VISAGED (7)
DC: DATIVES (7)
OT: AGISTED (7)
Score: 94–63 (max 102)

Sadly no vowel pick here for DIVAGATES, but a nice flat round of sevens comes out instead.

Round 14: 75, 5, 3, 9, 8, 4. Target: 249.

Ann: -
Adaam: 246. 75x3+5x4+(9-8) (7)
CM: 249. (75+8)x3 (10)
Score: 94–70 (max 112)

Ann struggles here, Adaam picks up seven points for being three away, but Colin Murray steals the show from DC with a very efficient solve. He really is an excellent guest :)

Round 15: M A T T E L L O N

No one buzzes. The answer was ALLOTMENT.
Final Score: 94–70 (max 122)

The conundrum stumps both contestants, but thankfully Anthony Endsor is present in the audience to do c4c proud :D

Ann gets her third win today then, and she'll be relieved that this one wasn't quite as close as the last two. She certainly has a great deal of ability, but can she show the consistency needed to qualify for a place in the finals, or even become an octochamp? Join James tomorrow to see if she can take the next step. I believe tomorrow's episode will be the last one this week, but please don't take my word for that as I'm not 100% sure.

Statistics
Raw score: Ann 94 - Adaam 76
