5 wins now for Cliff Lee. Can he get a 6th and get closer to a potential finals place?

Join Callum for the recap later.

Especially as SLALOMER used to be valid.

Wow didn't expect that result - reminds me of before when someone from Gloucestershire beat someone called Cliff.
In that case (S64) the winner, Tom Barnes, went on to octochampdom having got past Cliff Barnes.

Good comeback by the challenger, quite a decent performance too.

MORALLY in round 2 and OVERSEA in round 13.

Nice to see INDURATES make another appearance. :D

Decent contest, wasn't a mega standard by either player but a tight crucial always makes for a good spectacle. Cliff was fractions behind on the conundrum, I felt pretty bad for him to lose on an -ING crucial.

My way too, and a similar method for the 2nd:

(((5-2) x 25) - 6) x (9 + 1) = 690.

Cliff certainly left his numbers head at home today but well done to Martin for taking advantage after his unlucky start.

I think it was definitely the numbers that let Cliff down today. His letters were similar to his usual standard, but he threw far too many points away on the numbers.

I can sympathise. :)

Shouldn't a more difficult conundrum be employed if it's a crucial one? I'd rather see it not be solved than just coming down to who's got the fastest finger on the buzzer.

But then if they give a hard one that is beyond the abilities of both players, that's not particularly fair on the player that went into the conundrum trailing. I don't think any special treatment should be given to the employment of conundrums on crucials. The lottery of conundrum difficulty is part of the game, just like the letters and numbers selections.
