So, after the most amazing CO-event weekend I've ever been involved with, it's time for an early Robinson Recap, with Andy McGurn pre-occupied with moving house.

So, here we go, enjoy. ;) :) :D

Enjoy the show.

Round 1: R N A O S G E T U

C1: orangest
C2: STRANGE (7)
DC: OUTRANGES (18)
Score: 0–7 (max 18)

Ouchy, a very unfortunate start from Priscilla, as you can't have the orangest ORANGE for example, but you can have OUTRANGES for 9 :!: :!:

Round 2: P L D E I V T A R

C1: PLAITED (7)
C2: PLEAD (5)
DC: DEPRIVAL (8)
OT: DIPTERAL (8)
Score: 7–7 (max 26)

Luckily, Priscilla levels things up immediately with her PLAITED offering. A couple of 8's available here too. :)

Round 3: 75, 4, 3, 5, 5, 8. Target: 231.

C1: 231. ((8 / 4) + 75) x 3 (10)
C2: 231. (3 x 75) + 5 + 5 - 4 (10)
Score: 17–17 (max 36)

A nice and easy numbers game to start the week off. :)

Teatime teaser: ANYCREST -> ANCESTRY

Round 4: S L W O I E N R D

C1: SNOWIER (7)
C2: SLOWER (6)
DC: SWINDLER (8)
Score: 24–17 (max 44)

Priscilla now takes the lead thanks to her wintery offering. Shame we're not getting much of it at the moment :!: :P :( Another impressive 8 from DC, who seem to be lifting the spirits of the audience somewhat today :!: :!:

Round 5: P H U O R S A E T

C1: PHRASE (6)
C2: POUTERS (7)
DC: APTEROUS (8) HOTSPUR (7)
Score: 24–24 (max 52)

WAHOO!!! APTEROUS ALERT! APTEROUS ALERT! Nice to see good old APTEROUS appear yet again. But, Josephine has got herself back level thanks to her POUTERS. :P

Round 6: 75, 4, 3, 1, 3, 2. Target: 977.

C1: 977. (((4 x 3) + 1) x 75) + 2 (10)
C2: 977. (((4 x 3) + 1) x 75) + 2 (10)
Score: 34–34 (max 62)

Another fairly simple numbers game (if you know your 75 times table), and this game is still nicely poised after 6 rounds. :)

Nicki talks about her househunting programme Escape To The Continent, mainly focusing on a trip to Dubrovnik on the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia. 8-)

Round 7: G J I O D N I E C

C1: JOINED (6)
C2: JOINED (6)
DC: INDIGO (6) COINED (6)
OT: CEDING (6) CODING (6) DICING (6) GEODIC (6) IODINE (6)
Score: 40–40 (max 68)

Plenty of 6's as Priscilla and Josephine are still JOINED together.

Round 8: R T B U A I D F E

C1: FRUITED (7)
C2: FARTED (6)
DC: TRIBADE (7) BRUITED (7)
Score: 47–40 (max 75)

Josephine maybe shouldn't have FARTED and instead should've FRUITED like Priscilla.

Round 9: 75, 7, 3, 5, 4, 10. Target: 211.

C1: 211. (3 x 75) - (10 + 4) (10)
C2: 211. (3 x 75) - (10 + 4) (10)
Score: 57–50 (max 85)

Yet another simple numbers game and we're still in for a tight finish, hopefully. :)

Teatime teaser: KEBABCON -> BACKBONE

Round 10: S R T O E M P A R

C1: PARROTS (7)
C2: STOMPER (7)
DC: TAMPERS (7) PORTERS (7)
OT: PRAETORS (8) PRORATES (8) REARMOST (8) ROTAMERS (8) TRAMPERS (8)
Score: 64–57 (max 93)

7's all round in the studio, but there were loads of 8's that were missed by DC here..................

In the Ancient Roman republic, a PRAETOR was one of a number of elected magistrates charged chiefly with the administration of civil justice and ranking next below a consul.
To PRORATE is to make an arrangement on a basis of proportional distribution.

Round 11: Q S I O T M A E Y

C1: STEAMY (6)
C2: TEAMS (5)
DC: MOIETY (6) ATOMISE (7)
OT: AMOSITE (7) ATOMIES (7)
Score: 70–57 (max 100)

Priscilla extends her lead into double figures for the first time today. Is this possibly the end of Josephine........ :?: :?:

An AMOSITE is an asbestine variety of anthophyllite, rich in iron, formerly used as a heat-resistant material.

Susie's Origins Of Words talks about the origins of "virtuous", "wife", "hussy", "dame", "madam", "wenches", "tarts" and "courtesan".

Round 12: S G H O I A R F T

C1: GARISH (6)
C2: RIGHTS (6)
DC: OARFISH (7) RAGFISH (7) GARFISH (7) GOATFISH (8)
Score: 76–63 (max 108)

Everything seems to have gone very fishy in DC with no fewer than FOUR FISHes there, including the darrenic 8 of GOATFISH :!:  :o :P

Round 13: N Z O E S M A E D

C1: DAEMONS (7)
C2: dezones
OT: DEMEANS (7) MASONED (7) OEDEMAS (7)
Score: 83–63 (max 115)

Priscilla puts her Scrabble knowledge to good use with the archaic spelling of DAEMONS, leaving Josephine to try and desperately stay with her, but to no avail, but with 20 points in it, it's still not done yet...............

Round 14: 25, 100, 50, 8, 7, 9. Target: 590.

C1: 600. (100 - 25) x 8 (5)
C2: -
RR: 590. ((50 + 25) x 9) + 8 + 7 - 100 (10)
Score: 88–63 (max 125)

Well, Josephine decides to go for broke, and unfortunately it's over before the methods, as she can't get close enough (although why Priscilla didn't take the 9 off her 600 is a mystery..........), but it's left to Rachel to save the day with her method. 8-)

Round 15: P A S T E I G H T

C2 buzzes on 13.5 seconds to say SPAGHETTI which is correct.
Final Score: 88–73 (max 135)

But, at least Josephine can say she got the conundrum, and despite a few wobbles, has made the score still fairly respectable to lose by only 15 points.

So, Priscilla has reached 5 wins, and just needs the 3 more to become the first octochamp of 2014 on Thursday, a show that I'll be recapping next. Whether or not she'll be joining us is another question............., one that will be hinted at further tomorrow when Callum recaps the next instalment.

Andy will be doing my recap on Wednesday as a favour for me doing his today, so I'll return on Thursday.

In the meantime, see you soon. Bye bye. ;) :) :D

HA! Trust a teacher at my old primary school to declare FARTED. Also it's spelt Bridgford, not Bridgeford
