Really? I'm sure I've been paying attention to Countdown and not seen KISMET come up. I've heard of destiny and fate all the time but nobody has ever said kismet. You lads need to start socialising with normal people.

Or you need to broaden your horizons ;) I did do a Lexplorer search to see how common it was (and found that I was among many to miss it) but then I realised that it's not really important, people miss common words all the time.

That wasn't to detract from Junaid's games, or his spotting of KISMET either. It's clearly a good spot as it appears to be missed so often, but I don't think it's a "wtf" word. Just one of those things. I was the same with LEYLANDII, but I appear to be in a minority of never having heard of it when I speak to others. I remember a capable player on here questioning "how someone could come up with words like ADROIT unless they'd played apterous to death" (paraphrasing) and thinking "wtf? Everyone uses ADROIT" so some people (including me) just don't know some common words.

Haha no. I never saw most programmes until after David O'Donnell. I remember someone posting on here congratulating DOD on winning the series and I was like "shit, yeah, forgot the finals had been shown already". I was out of touch when at uni spending most of my time entering competitions or darting.

Even if I did just catch him on an off-day (off-evening) something like this is still rare enough to be brag-worthy. :-D

I claim the record for holding an apterous record for the shortest time.

At 1:29 a.m. today, I broke the record for Touchdown Jnr Letters Attack by scoring 133 in this 18-max game.
At 1:30 a.m. today, Chris Davies set a new record of 135 with a 19-max game.

I officially held the format record for one minute!

That's cool. Both scores are ridiculous considering the highest ever max is 138, and the best-case max is only 140.

As I'm a giant noob I don't know if that link worked but it's supposed to show that I've finally got a bullet numbers max. It may have taken over 100 tries but I got there in the end, woop woop!

Easily both my best ever word and best ever pencil. :D It's a duel game so you may have to wait a bit for it to come up.

Although they weren't the hardest games, I'm still pretty chuffed with this all 6 small numbers attack max.

In tribute to Eoin Morgan earlier this week becoming the first cricketer to score a One Day International century for two different countries, I think I've just become the first person on apterous to score a Standard 15 century in four different languages:

English (122)
German (109)
Dutch (101)
French (101)

Quite pleased with that, y'know...

In a sense this is the most impressive Brag of all, at least in terms of how long it would take me to achieve something comparable. Very very good. Russian next?

Beat the arithmetician in the first numbers round, but missed the max in one letters round.

Another set of back-to-back max games. Couldn't follow it upwith 3 on the trot though. Notice the numbers rounds on max game 1 - it's a max but isn't......oohh controversy!

An unusual brag: I currently hold the apterous record for both the longest max word and shortest max word to have been awarded pencil inventory items.

The first time I've posted on this bit. I set out on a mission to get the pencil section of the homepage full of my declarations. So I figured that a custom hypergoat letters marathon would be the best way to go about it. Here is the result, although it wasn't really a great performance. I also took a screen shot, but I'm too retarded to figure out how to upload it. If anyone is interested (which I know maybe none of you will be) could you help me out on this?

I've just managed the same feat as Josh, in filling the apterous homepage pencils list, although I've taken the rather easier route of doing it with ten German words (including a remarkable four nines).

This has taken me so, so long (33 NAs).

Particularly proud of managing rounds 17 and 18, which are pretty unremarkable in isolation, but the pressure was getting insane by that point.

Edit: Just noticed, what a way to celebrate:

My form on Apterous is completely mixed-up, a lot like me I guess.

I produce very crap performances one minute then, I do something completely extraordinary like this:

http://apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=223373

The result might not be that impressive, but if you beat one of the most recent series champions, you can't help but celebrate. ;) :) :D  8-)

Interesting apterday this one. First, I broke the high score for Omelette Conndrum Attack: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=256665. Then I had an epic 3 games with Kirk. First, this bullet conundrum attack: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=256705. Then, this speed conundrum attack (Kirk didn't learn his lesson from the earlier close shave): http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=256709. Finally, Kirk taught ME a lesson with a manly performance in the following 15 rounder: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=256723. (My win yielded 64 rating points; his yielded 3 )
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U

C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

A week old but worth a mention. When the multilingual Karen challenged me to Portuguese I don't think this was what she expected! Has anyone else managed a Portuguese 9? It also held the high-score record for about a day despite me scoring in only two letters rounds!

I admit that I DID expect to win but not by much as my Portugues experience is limited to 2 hours a week for one year but that was 26 years ago (before Dinos was even a twinkle in his mummy's eye)!! And there was always a pretty good chance that Dinos would beat me on the numbers.

Scored a new personal best of 137 in this game

Bloody ANHINGA! Although if I had spotted it I'dve probably tried to fudge the last impossible numbers to get a maxi thus not getting a new pb. In hindsight it's a good thing I didn't know it :)
