Re: Lyrics game
It sounds like something annoying like The Darkness.
The words look familiar for sure but then they're song-y enough to look familiar anyway I think.
Probably worth pointing out in your OP there should be no Googling just to make it clear Jon, though you'd hope people would only want to play if it's done properly.

Well yeah, it should go without saying really. I still think there's some knackers who will Google anything though, which is why it's so difficult to set puzzles online. Are the written lyrics true to their performance, or is part of the game that you have paraphrased them so as to prevent Googlery?

Sorry to side track... I too believed for a long time that 'quadriplegic' meant someone who had lost all four of their limbs (first bumped into the word on a very old X-Files episode about a guy who'd lost all four limbs and had developed psychic abilities), but Badcock told me off and Wikipedia research indeed learned me that quadriplegia and paraplegia are overarchingly concerned with just the loss of the use of limbs, be that 'merely' paralysis, or full physical loss.Andy Wilson wrote:I'm like a quadripeglic. Totally stumped.
So, to set my mind at ease, does anyone know if there is a proper term for someone who is physically missing both legs and arms, other than just something like 'quadruple amputee'?

Good stuff that. Don't really remember the advert myself. (youtube anyone?)
Certainly very hard Jon, I think this would have been a great way to kill off a lyrics game thread rather than start one though! tough precedent to follow.

Yeah, I didn't really care much for starting the game, I just wanted to be a bit of a prick - I did hope that more people would recognise it and it would bug them. As I said, a lyrics game would be kinda pointless because people will just Google it. As they did here.Matt Morrison wrote:Good stuff that. Don't really remember the advert myself. (youtube anyone?)

Nonsense, we can have a bit of craic without cheating, right? Well, i'm willing to try anyway... so here goes:
'Got a head full of lightning and a hat full of rain'
Very well known songwriter, but a recent enough record so perhaps not such a well known song. If noone's got it by the time I split from college in a couple of hours i'll give it away and someone else can have a go...

Didn't know that one, Andy. Something a little different/partially google-proof. The artists associated with the following lyrics are connected by the name of a band - which band?
"You and me, we have an opportunity
And we could make it something really cool"
"Oh - thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free"
"You better run, you better do what you can
Don't wanna see no blood, don't be a macho man"
"At six foot six and a hundred tons
the undisputed king of the slums
With more alias' than Klaus Barbie
the master butcher of Leigh-on-Sea"
"Warm sun feed me up
And I'm leery loaded up
Loathing for a change
And I slip some boil away"

OK so Bob's was solved, very good! Jon's is still unsolved and remains a mystery to everyone. Here's my half-assed attempt at something lyrically puzzling.
Quite straightforward

"Windmill, windmill for the land turn forever hand in hand"

So the connection (Gorrilaz, The Turtles, Steppenwolf) was The Animals, or they have animals in the band titles.
