Spoilers For Monday April 12th 2010

Post by James Robinson »

So, the new week seems to have started off bright and sunny, but will Peter Zyss become an octochamp tomorrow, as we know, he'd only be the 2nd one this series. :o

Although, we could be bracing ourselves for the lowest octochamp total to be broken, as Peter's last 2 games have only accrued him 120 points, putting him on just 465 for his 6 games, an average of 77.5, which would mean that if that average kept up, his total would be just 620. :o

In DC this week, we have another newbie, the comedian Dave Spikey, famous for being on Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, a team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats and the host of the short-lived reincarnation of Bullseye, which I believe was recorded at the old Yorkshire Studios. :geek:

So, will Peter continue to shine like the sun, or will he just burn out :?:

Someone more sciencey can confirm or otherwise, but I'm sure the sun both shines and burns out, right?

Good luck Zyss. I can imagine Jeff Burgs is sitting watching hoping that he will soon no longer be THE WORST OCTOCHAMP EVER.

As I think I mentioned before, Matt, Jeffrey currently ISN'T the worst octochamp in terms of points. That's Chris McHenry of Series 55, who got 643 from his 8.

EDIT: In relation to the rubbish sun joke, i was hoping to do a Zyss related joke, but couldn't think of anything.

Suggestions welcome. :D

Not sure why Countmax allows APOLUNES. Mass noun. Should be deleted.

Don't understand why it's listed as a mass noun, probably good judgement on their part to allow the plural.

Unless my ears deceived me, Ned scored 7 points in round 1 from GRANTED, which was not in the selection.

I think that Jeff thought Ned said GRANTED, hence the confusion.

I didn't catch it today but I heard he won. What was his score? It's weird to think that that Dave guy just missed out on being a sub-80-average octochamp and then someone else comes along right after and is in contention. So James of all knowledge, what are both their totals after 7 games?

I think Rachel actually spelt it out on the board as well. I could be wrong on that though.

Peter won 83-78 today, Gavin. His total after 7 games is 548, which excludes the bonus 10 he got from the sudden death conundrum, a week ago.

Dave's total after 7 games was 552 points. Chris McHenry, the current record holder had 643 points from his 8, so Peter has to score 96 or higher tomorrow (and win obviously) to avoid setting a new benchmark.

Sounded like a female tennis player gave the answer if you ask me. (I know, I know..... lame!)

Two good and likable contestants. Shame one had to lose. Agree about Dave Spikey. I normally fast-forward DC guests (especially Pam Ayers) but had a listen and he was great.

Glad to see Dave Spikey on the show.

I suspect that one or two of his stories willl be taken from his live repertoire based on Monday's show,
which is great because he's good fun live.
