I would definitely play for money in person (in a casino, home game etc), but I would never play online for real money.Matt Morrison wrote:You can't play poker properly if there is no money at stake. I'd play, but I have won a european ranking poker tournament and made several thousands at poker over the past few years it might be a bit unfair of me to join in, but I will watch and offer expert advice to anyone who is looking to improve their game.

I'd be happy to do either, maybe with a fiver as a sweetener.

Well, which of you plan to Colon? Surely a live game would be far more interesting.

Believe me I'm all about the getting drunk and having a laugh afterwards.
But yeah, in many ways I precisely agree - I'd prefer live because I'm trying to get away from the seedy BS of online gambling into the realm of the real, the drink, and the laugh, regardless of whether we're discussing poker or Countdowning.

Re: Texas hold 'em poker
Ok. I now have the ability to create tournaments on pokerstars. If people want to have one I'm happy to create it.
I'll have to choose something for each of these categories so if you're interested in playing then post in here saying what you would prefer in these categories:
1) When - Mainly what time of day you'd prefer as any day is always going to be bad for some ppl and good for others
2) Game Type - Can be pretty much any type of game there is
3) Buy In - $1, $3, $5, $10, $20, >$20
If people were interested we could run more than one (simeltaneously or otherwise) to have maybe a different type of game, or a heads up knockout tournament.
Let me know
Andrew

Nice work, Andrew. I haven't a clue how to play poker properly but I'd buy in at $10 just for laughs. Texas Hold 'Em suits because I know how that works already.

I'll play anything Andrew, $5 or $10 for preference, Omaha Hilo my favourite, but I suspect that good old hold 'em will be the sensible choice.

Any game (agree with Ian on the Omaha, but perfectly happy with Hold 'Em) and don't mind on the buy in. Have to be evenings for me though.

A $10 Hold'em game on a Sunday or weekday evening would be perfect for me.
We've played poker after Co-events before.. it's just a bit antisocial for the non-pokers.

Yeah like I said above to Corby I never really meant AT the event, that'd be a well rude thing to suggest considering it's not my event let alone I've never met a single one of you before.Jon O'Neill wrote:A $10 Hold'em game on a Sunday or weekday evening would be perfect for me.

But yeah I guess I was just stupidly assuming people would be around for the whole weekend, just because with all the travel I'll have to be myself.
Looks like I'll be signing up to Pokerstars again then, so long as this becomes a fortnightly or weekly little something we do it'll be well worth it.
For the record, will play $5 to $20 buy in tourneys. Can play Omaha and Omaha Hi-lo as well but hold em is my 'forte'.

Provisionally how does the evening of Easter Monday (5th April) at 8pm sound? Will set-up a $10 NL Holdem tournament and a $5 PL Omaha Tournament for then if people think this date is ok.

Re: Texas hold 'em poker
No-one immediately rejected that date out of hand so think I'm just going to go for it.
Have set these up now on Pokerstars.com the schedule is as follows:
Monday 5th April - 8.00pm
C4C $10+1 No Limit Holdem
Password: dacoit
8.05pm
C4C $5+0.50 Pot Limit Omaha
Password: leotard
Both of these can be found under Tourney -> Private on the pokerstars software, the best way to find them is probably to sort the list by start time - both have C4C in the title. To be doubly sure you have the right one I am registered already and my screen-name is stato_1 (leamington spa)
Also - register early to avoid disappointment. Both events are capped at 5000 players!
