Sit down and enjoy this, while I sit down and enjoy some birthday cake. :P

DC: Susie Dent and Graham Cole.

Enjoy the show.

Round 1: F I E M R I N X O

C1: MIXER (5)
C2: MORE (4)
DC: FERMION (7)
Score: 5–0 (max 7)

A rubbish selection of letters, which might set the trend for the rest of the game.

Round 2: L D S A U M E A T

C1: AMUSED (6)
C2: ADULATES (8)
Score: 5–8 (max 15)

Stevie gets off the blocks with a very nice 8.

Round 3: B M E D I S O P A

C1: biopeds
C2: MODES (5)
DC: POMADES (7)
OT: ADIPOSE (7) IMPOSED (7)
Score: 5–13 (max 22)

A dubious 7 by Heather is just that, although we might see something similar later :?

Round 4: L G S E A C O E N

C1: CLEANSE (7)
C2: GLANCES (7)
DC: CONGEALS (8)
OT: GASOLENE (8)
Score: 12–20 (max 30)

Round 5: 25, 75, 9, 6, 1, 10. Target: 380.

C1: -
C2: -
RR: 380. (6 - 1) x (10 - 9 + 75) (10)
Score: 12–20 (max 40)

A stinker of a numbers in which both contestants fail to declare anything. Luckily the brainiest blonde in the universe works on this show, so she gets the answer in no time.

Graham tells of his time working for the St. John's Ambulance.

Teatime teaser: TESTCASE -> CASSETTE

Round 6: T T S O U E A D K

C1: OUTDATES (8)
C2: OUTDATES (8)
OT: TAKEOUTS (8)
Score: 20–28 (max 48)

Round 7: G O U C T A Y S E

C1: COAST (5)
C2: GOATS (5)
DC: OUTAGES (7) STAGEY (6)
OT: ACETOUS (7) SCUTAGE (7)
Score: 25–33 (max 55)

ACETOUS is an adjective describing something that contains or produces acetic acid, vinegar to those non-scientists out there.

Round 8: D B P I E L A E Z

C1: BAILED (6)
C2: pailed
DC: BIPEDAL (7) PIEBALD (7)
Score: 31–33 (max 62)

DC get a word similar to Heather's disallowed BIOPEDS earlier, but luckily Stevie's PAILED isn't there, so no big loss to Heather there.

Round 9: S F O E D U C T N

C1: CONFUSED (8)
C2: CONFUSED (8)
OT: CONFUTED (8) CONFUTES (8) CONTUSED (8)
Score: 39–41 (max 70)

CONTUSED means to injure without breaking the skin.

Susie's Call My Bluff returns with Jeff in the hotseat.

Today's word is MONARSENOUS. Is it:
a) A word used for herds of animals, in which one male breeds with several females to provide the next generation.
b) Of or pertaining to the chants of football crowds in North London, which tend to be monotone.
c) Being remotely related to the ruling family of one's country.

Jeff guesses a), which is the correct answer.

Round 10: 50, 9, 6, 10, 6, 8. Target: 733.

C1: 732. ((9 + 6) x 50) - 10 - 8 (7)
C2: 734. Mistake in working.
OT: 733. (((50 x 10) - 6) x 9 / 6) - 8 (10)
Score: 46–41 (max 80)

All seems well until Stevie admits that he used the 10 twice, giving Heather the lead for the first time since round 1.

Teatime teaser: FINEFROG -> OFFERING

Round 11: H E R L I G A N R

C1: HEARING (7)
C2: HERRING (7)
DC: NARGHILE (8)
OT: GNARLIER (8)
Score: 53–48 (max 88)

Round 12: T E N Y R I O T E

C1: NETTER (6)
C2: NETTER (6)
DC: ENTIRETY (8)
OT: ETERNITY (8)
Score: 59–54 (max 96)

Round 13: J I R L O A R V O

C1: JOVIAL (6)
C2: jailor
OT: JAROOL (6)
Score: 65–54 (max 102)

Another dodgy collection of letters lets Heather get into a lead of double figures, after Steve fuses JAILER and GAOLER to create a false JAILOR.

JAROOL is a rap star. No, that's JA RULE. JAROOL is the common name of Lagerstroemia speciosa, a deciduous tree to 80 feet, with clusters of showy purple or white flowers.

Round 14: 25, 10, 2, 8, 2, 6. Target: 942.

C1: 946. (((6 x 8) - 10) x 25) - 2 - 2 (7)
C2: -
RR: 942. ((((6 - 2) x 10) - 2) x 25) - 8 (10)
Score: 72–54 (max 112)

Heather seals victory with her 4 away offering.

Round 15: G I L T S T I N K

C1 buzzes on 3 seconds to say SKITTLING which is correct.
Score: 82–54 (max 122)

Heather wins her second game, although SKITTLING would be a strong word to describe her victory. TENSE and GRADUAL would probably be better.

But, she is the winner and will be hoping to make it 3 in a row tomorrow.

Join Mike Brown, when he's not busy working, for the recap, which knowing him, will probably be available in a month's time.

Till next week, bye bye.

And your point is :?: I never said that Heather wasn't in the lead, I just said the letters were dreadful.

All seems well until Stevie admits that he used the 10 twice, giving Heather the lead for the first time today.

Somewhat belatedly, I can tell you his wife's name is Sue. I hope they don't get too much mail addressed to "S Wright" in their house!
