Spoilers For Tuesday December 15th 2009
Right, you don't have to be a Kirkulator to have worked out that today is the 4th of 4 quarter-finals.
With each of the previous 3 qf's having a winning margin of over 40 points, can we expect the same today from the tightest of the 4 qf's today
Here are some stats.
Firstly, Number 4 Seed Ryan Taylor - 8 Wins, 792 Points
Highest Score: 123 vs. Martyn Simpson (6th Game)
Lowest Score: 76 vs. Chris Civil (2nd Game)
9's Achieved: 3
Conundrum Success: 1/8
Secondly, Number 5 Seed Brian Selway - 8 Wins, 746 Points
Highest Score: 109 vs. John Drinkwater (1st Game)
Lowest Score: 63 vs. Cherry Barnett (3rd Game)
9's Achieved: 0
Conundrum Success: 5/8
This does look like it could be a close encounter. I think that both of the contestants have the ability to extremely excellent one minute, then suddenly just drop off the radar within an instant. I think the winning margin will be sub-20 today, but as to who will win, I'm not quite sure....

Ryan is really tall. I think this could be a deciding factor.
Re: Spoilers For Tuesday December 15th 2009
Ryan had better be more assured with his declarations this time. Or I'm gonna fucking kick off so bad there'll be hardly anyone left on the forum.

I was going to mention you Jon Corby and give you a wink down the camera but I couldn't fit it into the opening conversation with Jeff. I think this was the tallest finalist of series 61 vs the smallest finalist of series 61. That is an interesting fact that cant be forgotten about James!

We'll put it next to the 'INTERESTING NICKNAMES?' box, i think.

Man I feel ashamed to live in York now. I love it how they've got rid of them in York but elsewhere they've left them, hoping the Phillips family won't travel and get insulted. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I thought it was quite humerous and I'm sure my parents/brothers would chuckle if I gave it them for Christmas.

Ooo using the quote button for the first time. And yes I so wanted to say it but just couldnt wangle it in. Also midgets is quite a good word to use. And in reply to that ginger card, I saw it on BBC news today, made me laugh, I would love it if someone sent me one! *hint hint*Jon Corby wrote:Haha, brilliant. If anyone is gonna start keeping height stats, for the last CoC: Jon Coles was the tallest, DoD was the shortest (bear in mind this includes Kai) and Tony Warren was the widest. I was the coolest.

I noticed Jeff kept saying that whoever sat in the champion's chair had "won the toss". Not sure if that matters but I'm sure most people who win the toss would sit in the challenger's chair.

Bit of a mistimed drink of water there. Some good spots though in the more awkward rounds from Ryan to increase the lead.

Re: Spoilers For Tuesday December 15th 2009
Rory McGrath is good cartoonist and linguist, with a quick brain and no doubt many other talents. I'm sure he's a popular and sensible choice for DC.
But he's never appealed much to me, and he really blotted his copy-book with his clumsy 'Father Christmas doesn't exist' references today.
I'm probably one of the very few posters on here who regularly watch Countdown with their smallish children.
Thanks to Jeff for recovering the position with his closing comments, nicely done. I think we got away with it. But it was a close thing.
I'm sure some will say broadcasters shouldn't have to worry about such nonsense, and perhaps they're right, but I did appreciate the team's efforts today.
