I am looking to sell the
complete Oxford English Dictionary .
Leather bound and gold-trimmed, the 20 volumes are in near-perfect condition. These would normally cost £4,000, but I am willing to sell them for half that price: £2,000. PM me if you are interested.

Charlie, for £1999 I will make a time machine and allow you to use it to go back in time and declare NAILER.

It won't make you a series champion.

Jason, because:
a) I have no need for the dictionaries. I've briefly paged through 2 of the 20 volumes. The other 18 remain untouched.
b) My bank account is £1,250 overdrawn.
c) The dictionaries are a rather cumbersome possession to have. I move to different places a lot, so they wind up stored in boxes in my parent's attic most of the time.
I think they're very fine decorative books and of enormous appeal to anyone interested in words, which is why they're worth so much, but overall I'd rather take the money.

I think what Jason wanted to know, was why would you sell them at such a discounted price when they are in near perfect condition?

Richard, the Oxford English Dictionary is like a precious metal! It is history! You will never find anything like it in the world! British people are special in their own way. That's why I wouldn't do what you will do.

Or, in your case, the price was wrong.
I love you, Brucie!
