Can you say "Varsity Countdown"?Junaid Mubeen wrote:Well done Jeffrey, even though I detest everything about Merton that's an awesome achievement. With that blonde girl that James Robinson beat, there could be enough Countdowners in Oxford next year to warrant a tournament. Could get the legend James Martin too, as he works with one of my former tutors.

So not a Co-Ox but a Co-Var?
Would the former not guarantee a higher turnout?

I'm surprised there isn't such a think already. It sounds like something which could catch on to be a good tradition. Don't get Gyles Brandreth involved though!Charlie Reams wrote: Can you say "Varsity Countdown"?

Judging by my rating you can guess I won't be rushing to fight for the pride of Oxford against the likes of Fell, Saldanha, Reams etc...

Re: Varsity Countdown
Now that CoLei2 has been and gone, and Junaid has finished his run, I am happy to help organize this. I can gain access to a wide range of students and academics at a professional level, and can also distribute leaflets and posters, and advertise in newsletters.
If we are serious about this, then maybe it should be moved into the Events folder.
If not, the thirst for more events can still be quenched by Gevins Bevins you know.

Paul Gallen graduated from Queen's so I could pretty much put my feet up.

If it happens will it be open for public viewing (and more then likely public heckling)?

Can I be the "celebrity" guest who pretends they got the word for them self when actually, I'll just be stealing them from Kirk, who is doing his best to impersonate Susie?Kirk Bevins wrote:Can I be in Dictionary Corner please?JackHurst wrote:If it happens will it be open for public viewing (and more then likely public heckling)?
Re: Varsity Countdown
If not that, can I be that bloke who does some sort of entertainment with the crowd before hand and always seems to have the loudest laugh in the audience?
Re: Varsity Countdown
If not that, Can I be hired to restrain Giles Brandreth if he turns up and wants to join in?

That would be brilliant if you're serious about this, Kirk. Now that you've discovered that you can be intentionally funny, I am not sureKirk Bevins wrote:Can I be in Dictionary Corner please?JackHurst wrote:If it happens will it be open for public viewing (and more then likely public heckling)?
I realise that I talk a lot of shit on here, so people might not know whether to take me seriously either. But I am serious when I need to be, and if we can get some former players involved as well as students, I can visualize it being quite successful.

I'm serious - I love playing Countdown. I loved playing in front of a few teachers and sixth formers at a school exhibition.
