Countdown break - the alternatives
I usually record Countdown while I'm at work and watch in the early evening. So, without Countdown at 6 o'clock yesterday I tuned in to BBC2 instead.
Eggheads has been around for a while and I find it mildly annoying but watchable. But yesterday also saw the launch of a new programme, Knowitalls - hosted by Gyles Brandreth. I managed to stick with it for all of 4 minutes, but that was quite enough.
Anyone manage to watch the whole programme? Going to watch again?

I can see (sort of) why they took Countdown off for a few weeks to cover horseracing - it is Goodwood this week - but next week it is replaced by back to back editions of Come Dine with Me which is outrageous.

Not quite back to back - we also get DOND to give the first two four-course meals time to settle before the next two.Chris Corby wrote:I can see (sort of) why they took Countdown off for a few weeks to cover horseracing - it is Goodwood this week - but next week it is replaced by back to back editions of Come Dine with Me which is outrageous.

It just goes to show that even the schedulers are at a loss without Countdown.

No, not usually. But at work I am constrained to ape American style and it does tend to rub off.Derek Hazell wrote:You obviously prefer American shows.Rosemary Roberts wrote:Tuesday through Friday . . . Enough already.

I'm a translator, and my customers get to choose which flavo(u)r of English they prefer. A lot of them believe that American buzzwords and spelling is all they need to make them "global players".Derek Hazell wrote:Oh! Whatever kind of job would make you do that?
