Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now" was no.1 when I was born. A couple of days later it was "I Should Be So Lucky" by Kylie.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" is a pretty good starting block though!

Dancing Queen by Abba :( Funnily enough I turned out to be neither a dancer nor a queen . . . but for such a great decade in music, surely I could have had something better than that!

Little Red Rooster by The Rolling Stones, and in the Album charts, The Beatles Hard Day's Night. That puts my birth fair and square into a particular era. Whilst pregnant with me my Mum was out in Aden where my Dad was stationed with the RAF and she was subjected to overkill of Billy J Kramer's 'Little Children'. To this day, if you hum it to her, she gets morning sickness!

There were no charts when I was born.

Some of the popular tunes were:

Over The Rainbow - Judy Garland
Moonlight Serenade - Glenn Miller
Sunrise Serenade - Glenn Miller
Little Brown Jug - Glenn Miller
South of the Border
Deep Purple
At The Woodchopper's Ball - Woody Herman

Showaddywaddy - Under The Moon Of Love. And I've seen them do it live, for my sins.

Elvis - It's now or never

Given that I was 3½ weeks early, I think that's rather appropriate.

Hmmm...the charts had only been in existence for less than 2 years. Number 1 was Cara Mia by David Whitfield with Mantovani and his Orchestra. No, I've never heard of it either.

'I Believe' by Frankie Lane was my No.1 on 31st August 1953, so it really dates me.

It was something of a classic and was top of the charts for a record 18 weeks (not consecutively).

I am happy to be associated with it.

Checking the Irish charts I found that they only started the week after I was born.
Top of the UK charts was Elvis's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLIts7l0NOoShe's Not You.
However I much prefer this one which was top of the US charts.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myIG9PEwXZw.Sherry by The 4 seasons.
More of a classic I think.

Yes me too - he specialised in ballads, so his absolutely brilliant "Rawhide" was out of his usual style.

I agree Kevin. Rawhide is one of the earliest cowboy programmes I can rememeber and the words of the theme song are still very vivid in my mind. Great song! And of course, the programme kicked off Clint Eastwood's long and illustrious career.

My sister probably has the worst one.

When she was born the Mr. Blobby song was no.1 :!:

I think http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prisoner%27s_Song was no.1 in the week I was born, though I don't recall having ever heard of it before I looked it up just now,
Paul Whiteman's "valencia" and Sophie Tucker's "Some of These Days" I do know, though didn't top the charts till a bit later.
"Tiptoe through the Tulips" and "Sweet Georgia Brown" were among the chart-toppers, but again, I've not succeeded in identifying which week

10cc "I'm not in love" - it's still a great song :D Have realised though it makes me older than Bohemian Rhapsody and Sailing!

Think of Rene and Renato, only worse. One of those songs which could appear on the Morecambe and Wise show, and you wouldn't know if it was a joke or a serious guest singer.
