Interesting that you mock me about using colours at rubbish times.
I sometimes findit annoying whenpeople use different writing at unnecessary times!
By the way, in answer to your question, probably that there will be a winner and a loser in this game.
Although, whoever wins today will have to be pretty good to try and emaulate the successes of Mr Hulme.

Would you have put the month in the title? Cos that would have been better.Dinos Sfyris wrote:I'd been sat on that one all week! Hulme-ake me sick.Matt Morrison wrote:What is going to happen in this, the first posthulmeous game?

You clearly don't get it James. I'll occasionally make something big. I'll never make something unreadable, which is what your colours often do. (and don't forget not everyone uses the same forum theme)James Robinson wrote:Interesting that you mock me about using colours at rubbish times.

It's ok I'm over it now. Provided one of today's challengers has a pun-tastic name.

I watched todays game from the audience and it's definitely worth catching. Watch one for one pretty Hansfordesque character.

(Incidentally Dinos, I keep meaning to ask: has your avatar pic been rotated clockwise through 45 degrees, or was it taken when you were in the process of falling over? I do hope it was the latter. I like to imagine you nonchalantly picking yourself up again as if nothing had happened, a la Del Boy falling through the bar.)

Re: Tomspoilery for Tuesday 21st
Brian is a model airplane enthusiast who has been banished by his wife to the garage to conduct his hobby. Sometimes he lets his two young kids, Wren and Philip, come and help him. The only thing that Wren likes doing is holding a torch to help Brian see the intricate parts of his model, and if she doesn't get to hold the torch then she throws a bit of a tantrum. So one time Philip picked up the torch instead, Brian noticed, and pointing to the torch, shouts "Phil, Wren holds!"Phil Reynolds wrote:I think these puns have gone about a Sfyris they can go, don't you?

Well it was taken at midnight when I turned 20 so I'll let you guess which one! Incidentally I think it's in need of a change once the 80s fancy dress pics are up on facebook from last nightPhil Reynolds wrote:(Incidentally Dinos, I keep meaning to ask: has your avatar pic been rotated clockwise through 45 degrees, or was it taken when you were in the process of falling over? Wow, didn't expect for a minute that he'd come back and win it. He seems pretty good, obviously just a nervous start.

Awesome game, when he declared 4 in the POINTIER round I was pretty flabbergasted, but clearly he was just hilariously inconsistent, whereas his opponent was fairly average. Great stuff.

Yes, after a disastrous start, some good spots from Paul, but a game of highs and lows for him. How come when he saw MIST did he not get MOIST, at least?Michael Wallace wrote:Awesome game, when he declared 4 in the POINTIER round I was pretty flabbergasted, but clearly he was just hilariously inconsistent, whereas his opponent was fairly average. Perfectly sums up my view of the game! Had to feel sorry for Yvonne though, she'd led the whole way and was then gazumped at the end- she looked crestfallen. I know you get inconsistent players playing the game (I'm probably just one such example) but either the nerves got to him in a huge way or he blows hot and cold more often than, well, something that often blows hot and cold.Michael Wallace wrote:Awesome game, when he declared 4 in the POINTIER round I was pretty flabbergasted, but clearly he was just hilariously inconsistent, whereas his opponent was fairly average. Re: Tomspoilery for Tuesday 21st
I wonder if it makes it better or worse when you consider she'd've know she'd dodged a bullet with regards to Andrew - on the one hand you might think "oh well, I would have been thrashed by him", but on the other she might have gone into the game thinking "woo, I have a chance!".Jeffrey Burgin wrote:Had to feel sorry for Yvonne though, she'd led the whole way and was then gazumped at the end- she looked crestfallen.
Re: Tomspoilery for Tuesday 21st
Wow, what a bizarre game. Yvonne will be kicking herself that she lost that, when Jeff said midway through about there "being plenty of time left for Paul to come back" I admit I scoffed.

Todays game went from Incredibly frustrating at the beginning to massively entertaining towards the end. Very good match, I look forward to seeing the man again tomorrow

Is it possible the next female Countdown series champion could be named Corby?

Yeah, that does seem weird considering that she declared MOIST earlier in the show, so you'd have thought that might have been picked up. Interestingly, of course, she didn't even declare MOIST that time round I, personally got SLALOM in that round, which I was proud of until SOLATIUM was declared.Brian Moore wrote:How come when he saw MIST did he not get MOIST, at least?
I also wonder, has anyone else ever been 19 points behind with 2 rounds to go, before winning by 1 point
Re: Tomspoilery for Tuesday 21st
Not likely since she's actually got her mother's name (we're not married - the shame)Rich Priest wrote:Is it possible the next female Countdown series champion could be named Corby?
Although actually she does use Corby on apterous, so maybe she will adopt it for her Countdown career if nothing else...

I was proud with 129/133 today (missed ENTHRONE and DONATED ). But a pretty topsy-turvy game, definitely! I also have the recap text for Dinos / The Molinator.

Re: Tomspoilery for Tuesday 21st
She could use the Corby name now, and then her own name when she comes back as an adult, so no one knows she's the same person.Jon Corby wrote:Not likely since she's actually got her mother's name (we're not married - the shame)Rich Priest wrote:Is it possible the next female Countdown series champion could be named Corby?

Or, considering her age she could use the surname "Lassiwoman".
Or, actually she might even be married by the time she wants to make her adult reappearance.
Which means it is actually easier for females to get back on the show, because the producers may not realize.
Okay, I'm waffling now.

It probably has happened but I seem to remember Pete Cashmore coming back from 20 down and winning on a sudden death conundrum in a game once.
