That was very bad luck Matt. It looked like you saw WRESTLING after saying STREWLING.

Ouch. Bad luck Matthew. I'm guessing you saw WRESTLING when you looked at the clock. I was praying for him not to get it in time! 4 excellent games though. Well done indeed :)

cheers guys, i did see it, thats why i was willing the clock down, lol.

i just wasnt strong enough on the letters, numbers wise was ok, but missed too many words in all of my games, i went blank in one round, when AUDIT was staring right back at me, i should at least have got DIRT for an equaller and i would have been through, never mind, 7th seed though that wont be enough i think unless there is a new champ everyday, so i will be cheering on every challenger lol

Bad luck, Matt. I've not seen the game yet, only the result.

By my reckoning you're dead level with Tony Durrant on 3 wins and 389 points. Any idea how you'll be split if we get just one more player to pass you?

. He was smug so I'm very glad you beat him.

Tony should be at least pleased that he at least won his debut game as not everyone gets to :?.

Yeah very good game, what a shame really. When you buzzed in I thought you definitely had the right answer. Still I wouldn't have known SNEAKED was valid as logically it should be SNUCK but clearly, both are ok.

No DC beaters for me but I think MALETA and TAMALE are valid as equallers, although we know there's a 7 in that round.

If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?

Unlucky there Matt. I was expecting you to go on to win 8.

I met today's challenger on my day (he was there as a back-up), and probably would have played him if methodist minister Barry had won his 8th game. Got the impression he was good at the time.

And for the record, I liked Tony :P

Really? :)

I'm rooting for you both to stay in now, and Tony to find this board so you can explain this comment to him face to face :D

How about inviting Tony to the board :)
see http://www.tonydurrant.co.uk/

Regarding spitting you and Tony, should it be necessary. The obvious differentiating factor would be points difference. And you would win that easily, Matt. Tony's points difference over his four games was +40; yours was +140.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, and I think highest individual score was the deciding factor*. Points difference would probably be fairer though.

Also, I think it's a bit harsh to call someone a "miserable cunt" on the basis of a couple of appearances on Countdown, especially when there is so little interaction with the contestants these days. You weren't exactly Captain Charisma yourself, Matthew! Hard luck on losing out yesterday though, that was an excellent game.

*Disclaimer: this could be total bollocks

Taking highest individual score - guess what? They're dead level - both on 106.

So, moving onto second highest individual score - Matt wins, 105 against 98.

Of course the Tony Durrant we saw on Countdown, may have been the Son. :)
