Familiar name (Not the same guy though, obviously.)
Also did the c4c continuity announcer utterly cock up and get the vowel/consonant amount wrong before the show?

Re: Spoilers for Thursday 28th May
slightly more obvious route for 1st numbers:
100 + 6 + 6 = 112, x4 = 448
9 - 8 = 1
448 - 1 = 447
100 + 6 + 6 = 112, x4 = 448
9 - 8 = 1
448 - 1 = 447

Less obvious way for first numbers: (9x100-6)/(8-6)

Yup, sad we have to look to a game of Countdown instead of the SPL, but there we go, a minor victory.Andy Wilson wrote:Bit of pride restored for countdown watching Celtic supporters!
I'm still confused as to why it got taken out of the thread title, twas hardly a spoiler as AFAIK James didn't reveal he was a Celtic fan until today's episode.
Presumably one of the forum moderators on a power trip.

Apparently the third numbers game has 295 solutions. The most intuitive, allegedly, is (25+10)*3. I wonder if there are any numbers games that have x solutions, where x is also the target...

Re: Spoilers for Thursday 28th May
The way WTP counts solutions is fairly arbitrary, so it's not all that profound, but I would guess on the basis of no evidence whatsoever that there probably is.Neil Zussman wrote:Apparently the third numbers game has 295 solutions. I'd have thought it was 9x10 + 5x3. But only because that's how I did it.Neil Zussman wrote:Apparently the third numbers game has 295 solutions. The most intuitive, allegedly, is (25+10)*3.

Or (6 x 25) - (9 x 5) - again, only because I did it that way.Phil Reynolds wrote:I'd have thought it was 9x10 + 5x3. But only because that's how I did it.Neil Zussman wrote:Apparently the third numbers game has 295 solutions. The most intuitive, allegedly, is (25+10)*3.
I also was proud to get ABATIS in that round. Interestingly, it appeared again as a contestant beater in the round where DC declared ABSTAIN.Kirk Bevins wrote:ABATIS for a beater in round 6.

Thats got to be:
Best opening word in a countdown match?
Best 9er in a final?
Best 9er ever?!
This new Michael Calder is a shame to the name

If I suddenly have a squirming baby on my lap it probably means that I should start paying it some attention and stop wasting my time messing around on a Countdown forum
