it tells me the username/password combination is invalid when i know it's right, would that happen with bad Java?

Indeed I have.
Verifying Java Version
Congratulations!
You have the recommended Java installed (Version 6 Update 13).
is what is says when i went to Java.com
And bad username/password is what is says when i try and log in to apterous, maybe i've got that wrong somehow?

logging in with full name rather than username?
otherwise surely you have the password wrong.
