Shame George didn't settle in until about half-way through the game, he seemed to be pretty good. He could well have won if it weren't for a couple of blanks, which I'm guessing were nerves.

Re: Spoilers for Friday 17th April
COHERER as a beater in round 1, MAESTROS and MESOSAUR in round 9 (DC had MESOSAUR the other day and they missed it today) and then 467 a couple of ways in round 14, the simplest being:
(75+6)x7-100
Good game today and I think George looked slightly annoyed to have come so close and lost.

DC didn't miss DOMAINES, you clearly missed watching the show.Ben Hunter wrote:As well as MESOSAUR they missed DOMAINES, which was also there the other day.

He's only 17 for goodness' sake. Wait until he's graduated and become a maths teacher and gets invited back onto the show and becomes a record-breaking octochamp in five years' time. Then I'll want to have sex with him.Matt Morrison wrote:Really? Haha.
Er, back to my lookalikes thing. If Steven Briers is Sid from Skins, surely George could be his cast mate playing Tony Stonem?

Damn I got MESOSAUR (MASSEUR + O) and felt really clever until I visited this thread! I missed CHEERIO though which is like my favourite sign off

Re: Spoilers for Friday 17th April
Well CHOIR is in the OED as a verb, so I reckoned CHOIRED would be allowed, in the same way that BUM is in the dictionary, so you could have BUMMED.Phil Reynolds wrote:Bum is also in my dictionary.Brian Moore wrote:Bum, sorry, was in my dictionary

He could well have bummed, but unless you have any evidence, that's slander.Brian Moore wrote:Well CHOIR is in the OED as a verb, so I reckoned CHOIRED would be allowed, in the same way that BUM is in the dictionary, so you could have BUMMED.Phil Reynolds wrote:Bum is also in my dictionary.

I'm not sure which OED you're referring to here, but it's not the one used on the programme.Brian Moore wrote:Well CHOIR is in the OED as a verb, so I reckoned CHOIRED would be allowed, in the same way that BUM is in the dictionary, so you could have BUMMED.Phil Reynolds wrote:Bum is also in my dictionary.Brian Moore wrote:Bum, sorry, was in my dictionary

Re: Spoilers for Friday 17th April
It was the online complete OED, which I know is not the one used in the programme; but as I didn't think it was a contentious word, I didn't double-check with Lexplorer. My mistake, as I now know.Charlie Reams wrote:I'm not sure which OED you're referring to here, but it's not the one used on the programme.Brian Moore wrote:Well CHOIR is in the OED as a verb, so I reckoned CHOIRED would be allowed
