SOCIETAL round 1 (equaller)
If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?

I had SHRIEVAL in the next rd as an equaller too. I am going to play against the champ from home today then recap it on +1, so far we're even.

lol
If in that LIBRATES round, a vowel was picked at the end, it would've been 'O' and then you could've had STROBILAE .

He looked gutted! He'll probably end up as the number 8 seed now and I'll end up having to face him in the QF.

Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 1st April 2008
Surprised that nobody's posted PIROGI for 6 in the PIGS rounds. My NODE gives PIROGI as the plural of PIROG, and as a singular noun, of which the plural is PIROGIES! So PIROGIS doesn't seem to be valid unless it's in the most recent version. Perhaps DOD can tell me, or someone.

A dangerous player in the lower seeds now. Definitely fancy an upset in the QF. Assuming Richard gets there of course. However, if he is No.8 and DoD remains No. 1 I take it back.
Missed AUDITED and PIROGI that was mentioned!

No one mentioned GOPURAS as a beater yet, so I thought I would. Can't remember what round, I assumed you nerds would have posted it within 2 seconds of the letters going up.

the Tuesday 01st April, 2008
Helloy,
It states in your website under LETTERS ROUND in paragraph 3 "Any word which appears in the Oxford Dictionary of English IS ALLOWABLE[35]."
However, on your Countdown show aired 01st April, 2008 the Tuesday, Susie would not permit the five letter word of MEATY to the contestant. MEATY is an absolutely appropriate spelling and is indeed in the Oxford Dictionary of English with a true definition.
MEATY = ( an adjective) = full of meat or (fig.) substance; fleshy; of or like meat.
The contestant needs to be rewarded the points for the word MEATY.
I am NOT related to any contestants of this days airing.

Are you confusing us with the official Countdown production team? Because we're not that. Also he declared six and went for MEATIE, and even spelled it out loud M-E-A-T-I-E at which point Susie said "no it's spelt with a Y" so it's just you not paying attention, sorry.

Helloy,
Am not the confused one and pay attention just fine; he went for the five letter 'y' where Miss Susie jumped way too quickly herself to be wrong. Wanna see a video of it luv??? that no one else caught it!

I wasn't really paying attention during Susie's "origin of words" piece today (sorry Suse) but naturally my ears pricked up when I caught her saying "it's either swallowed or smeared on the body"
Please nobody spoil this for me by saying what it was really about
