Re: Spoiler for Thurs 26/2/09
Are we only allowed one spoiler in total then?
If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?

Fair enough. Notice how good the second player is at spelling.Adam Dexter wrote:I was referring to the whole thing being a spoiler so there

R5: alternate numbers for 386
50 x 9 = 450, -75 = 375
+ 10, + 1 = 386
50 x 9 = 450, -75 = 375
+ 10, + 1 = 386

Yeah, pretty easy really.
Just spotted another: (50/10) x 75 = 5 x 75 = 375, + 10 + 1 = 386
(apologies if this was the method Rachel used, wasn't paying attention!)

I actually love Jeff. I got BEMOANS too.
I'm still wondering if sometimes Susie pretends she hasn't found something to give him credit though.

Yes it was... lol. Lots of people don't think of dividing in order to go up to a larger target, so well done to her.Matt Morrison wrote:Yeah, pretty easy really.

Got that too (and 'traipsed'), though if I was on the show I'd declare 'parodist' even though I got parotids first.Adam Dexter wrote:R8: PAROTIDS!

R10: 364
(8 + 3) - 10 = 1
1 + 25 = 26
26 * (10 + 4) = 364
(8 + 3) - 10 = 1
1 + 25 = 26

I think that's more elegant.

I still can't believe DANGERED isn't a word. Grr. Would have lost myself 8 points that round.

Re: Spoiler for Thurs 26/2/09
A pretty good game. A slow start, but I thought ASCRIBES was the spot of the day, as the obvious -ERS ending doesn't get you more than seven.

I got ASCRIBES, and then one round later could only get COATED in the LEOTARD round which is fucking embarrassing. I'm frustratingly on/off at the moment.Martin Gardner wrote:A pretty good game. BRASSICA for another 8 and also GARDENED (if I've remembered the letters correctly).

I got STOMATE, IDOLATER and TENUTO as equallers. It was almost a relief to see that the contestants weren't particularly awesome, as the Bevatron Express will surely be putting paid to their challenge anyway.

RENEGADO always reminds me of Conor. Good game, they're lucky they weren't Bevinsed.

Me too. Did you notice the guy was looking at the letters board for the conundrum. I've seen an opponents of Kai do this too. The clock starts and they don't look startled or anything, then when the buzzer goes they realise the conundrum has already been shown and can be seen directly on the opposite side of the studio, or, more easily, on the TV screen built into the desk in front of you.Jimmy Gough wrote:RENEGADO always reminds me of Conor.

The solver got VEXILLA for the MAILED round, I'm not claiming it personally.

Re: Spoiler for Thurs 26/2/09
got BEMOANS, PAROTIDS and DERANGED.
Also spotted BRASSICA in the ASCRIBES round but in my dictionary it is capitalised so it would have been disallowed unless it has changed.
Another solution for 364.
25+8+3 = 36 times 10 = 360 + 4.
A closely fought and enjoyable game today.

You've also capitalised it on this lol... nothing relevant to add, so I'll be quiet now...Tracey Lilly wrote: Also spotted BRASSICA in the ASCRIBES round but in my dictionary it is capitalised so it would have been disallowed unless it has changed.

The one OT I got, that hasn't already been mentioned, is ARTICLED in round 13.
Because of Neil's run, I hadn't beaten both contestants since the 12th Feb, so was great to win by at least a 30 point margin against both.
