Co:cester (Countdown in Worcester) 2025!

Mispronounced as many times as a Countdown contestant declaring a word they can’t define – Countdown is coming to Worcester!

Roll up, roll up! And welcome to the debut Co-event in Worcester, Co:cester! Come along and experience a rollerCo:cester of emotions whilst playing Countdown in the flesh. 6 games of Countdown against fellow fans of the show will give you a taste of what it is like to play for the *in this case, imaginary* teapot!

The Studio itself is located on Level 1 of The Hive and is wheelchair-accessible.

Address: The Hive, Sawmill Cl, The Butts, Worcester WR1 3PD Map Link- https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+H ... FQAw%3D%3D

The Hive is well-located in the centre of Worcester. Conveniently, it is the only huge golden building in Worcester, so shouldn’t be too hard to spot!

Public transport:

As noted above, The Hive is a five minute walk away from Worcester Foregate Street station, where you can get direct trains from Birmingham (New Street or Snow Hill), London Paddington, Oxford and Bristol Temple Meads. Additionally, Worcester Shrub Hill (a 17 minute walk, or take the 34 or 38 bus to get to the nearby Crowngate station) is another option that serves the aforementioned, as well as Birmingham Moor Street. Furthermore, Both Foregate Street and Shrub Hill go to Hereford, which will provide a connection for any Welsh visitors coming from the Cardiff to Manchester line.

Accommodation: There are plenty of accomodation options, such as a Premier Inn- https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels ... B&BRAND=PI or a Travelodge https://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/279/Worcester-hotel, or Airbnb options.

Parkrun: The venue is very close to Worcester Pitchroft Parkrun https://www.parkrun.org.uk/worcesterpitchcroft/- which is practically across the road, and very flat! There is also Worcester Parkrun, https://www.parkrun.org.uk/worcester/, should Pitchcroft not be running.

For reference, for the train travellers, if you've googled your destination "to Worcester", then it may come up with Worcestershire Parkway as the train station.
Unless you fancy walking over fields and up the M5, then you'll need to transfer from there to Worcester Foregate Street (less than a 10 min train journey). You can also catch the X50 bus.

Should also be noted that Worcester Park is also nothing to do with Worcester. Don't get tricked by cheap looking train tickets from London!

Don't suppose anyone will be driving roughly through Coventry/Leamington/Kenilworth area?

I'm very likely to come anyway but getting a lift would shave my travel time by more than 50%.

Happy to contribute to petrol :)

Used to work at a place with the address of 3 The Butts. And no, it wasn't the Nudist Association HQ....

Here is said missing link:

https://greem.uk/colive/tourney/COWORCS25

As you probably know, going to greem.co.uk/co will give you all the standings - and you can click on a player to easily see all their games rather than having to rifle through the text. Blog post is now live on the FOCAL website too - https://focalcountdown.com/2025/11/02/t ... worcester/

I do know but when I'm on my phone it's more hassle to find stuff. Plus I think it's generally better for things to get explicitly stated in the relevant places rather than people individually looking for the results.

(I realise some people might not consider c4c to be a relevant place any more but while event threads still exist on it I think they should be followed through on.)

Aw, does someone need a hug?

I still like c4c, but I think you and I are getting old and have fond memories of lively forums of bygone years! For a forum to be successful, you need to have engaging content that keeps people coming back. Very hard to start that from scratch, but I think with discord, Rob's games and moving the playalong chat to there (which is a huge improvement) give that extra value, that if the forum side gets going could make it a big success.
