Todays is St Patricks day................Will Neha have the luck of the Irish on her side...........Or will Caroline find her pot of gold at the end of rainbow ?

As we are celebrating St Patricks day..............let's pay tribute to those famous people who are from Ireland

Irish rock band U2 were formed in 1976 and they are from Dublin, from being cult artists early on their career they have ended up as being one of the best selling acts in the world, they cemented that status in the mid 1980s with their sell out tours, and a fantastic performance at Live Aid in 1985 where they nearly stole the show before Queen were due to play and ended up stealing the show themselves ! In 1987 they cemented their superstar status with their critically acclaimed 5th Album The Joshua Tree that became one of the best selling albums in the world, they have an impressive track record with their sell out worldwide tours making them the 3rd in the list of highest grossing musical artists...........they have won numerous awards for their work such as The Brit Awards, Ivor Novellos and Grammy awards.

Dublin based band Thin Lizzy were formed in 1969, the band consisted of Phil Lynott who was the main singer and principal songwriter up until his tragic death in 1986, He was a Manchester United fan but remains a popular figure in the rock world, and in 2005 a statue in his memory was erected in Dublin. Gary Moore joined the group in the 1970s, but later on he had solo success with fellow bandmate Phil Lynott with Parisienne Walkways that was released in 1979 and reached No 8 in the charts. Phil Lynott wrote Yellow Pearl with Midge Ure this was used as a theme tune for the popular TV show Top of the Pops from 1981 to 1986.Further success followed with Out in the Fields that was released in 1985 and became a top 5 hit, the song is about the troubles in Northern Ireland. Gary Moore sadly passed away in 2011

Liam Neeson is a Northern Irish actor he has received several accolades for his acting work, one of those was an Oscar Nomination for best actor for his portrayal of Oskar Schindler in the 1993 Holocaust drama Schindlers List, he lost out to Tom Hanks who won the award for portraying a lawyer suffering from AIDS in the 1993 film Philadephia. There are other notable works of Liam Neeson such as Lamb in 1985 The Dead Pool in 1988 and the Taken Franchise.

Dennis Taylor is a former Northern Irish snooker player he turned professional in 1972 and is best known for winning the 1985 World Snooker Championship that had us all on the edge of our seats, in which he lost the first eight frames of the final to the defending champion Steve Davis but recovered to win 18–17 in a duel on the last black ball. The final's conclusion attracted 18.5 million viewers, setting UK viewership records for any post-midnight broadcast and for any broadcast on BBC Two that still stands to this day. Alongside other players managed by Barry Hearn (known as the Matchroom mob) and Chas & Dave, Taylor featured on the music single called "Snooker Loopy"the song spent 11 weeks in the UK Singles Chart in 1986, peaking at number six there was a follow up called the Romford Rap which was a complete flop..... less said about it the better ! After retiring from snooker he works for the BBC as a popular broadcaster regularly commentating on the World Snooker Championships.

Alex Higgins is a former Northern Irish professional snooker player and a two-time world champion who is remembered as one of the most iconic figures in the sport's history. Nicknamed "Hurricane Higgins" for his rapid play and known as the "People's Champion" for his popularity and charisma he is often credited as a key factor in snooker's success as a mainstream televised sport in the 1980s, he will be remembered for his friendship with Jimmy White and the late British actor Oliver Reed. Alex Higgins had a bitter rivalry with Steve Davis that he is remembered for as well as his controversial lifestyle on and off the table, Alex Higgins sadly passed away in 2010

The late Richard Harris known for his hellraising lifestyle as well as being actor he was a singer too he had a successful hit in 1968 with MacArthur Park that peaked at No 4 in the UK charts. Film successes include the 1992 Harrison Ford flick Patriot Games and the Oscar winning Clint Eastwood flick Unforgiven both of those were released in the same year, and the Oscar winning 2000 film Gladiator. His final role was the successful Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets before passing away in 2002.

Last but not least, Clannad were formed in 1970 they began life as a folk group performing arranged songs in Irish, they expanded their sound with original songs in English, vocal harmonies, electronic keyboards, and elements of rock, Celtic, new age, smooth jazz, and Gregorian chant.They gained worldwide attention when they composed the theme tune to Harry's Game that reached no 5 in the charts it was a novel written by Gerald Seymour in 1975 and was made into a 1982 TV miniseries that was set in and around Belfast during the Troubles. One of it's members Enya became a successful solo artist in her own right selling over 90 Million records worldwide.
