Round 1: D O N A B E P T R

Mark: BOATER (6)
Anthony: PROBATE (7)
DC: PRONATED (8)
OT: PROBATED (8)
Score: 0–7 (max 8)

A good start for our challenger Anthony with his 7 Probate.............DC get to show off with their Pronated..........but I have just learnt that you extend Probate by sticking a D at the end of it and Probated was my spot

Round 2: N V U F A I T A E

Mark: UNFIT (5)
Anthony: AUNTIE (6)
DC: AUNTIE (6) NATIVE (6)
OT: AFAINT (6) AVAUNT (6) AVIATE (6) NAVETA (6) TAENIA (6)
Score: 0–13 (max 14)

Lots of 6s here but not for our Champion Mark who is stuck on 5

Round 3: 50, 25, 6, 7, 5, 8. Target: 524.

C1: -
C2: 524. (6 + 5) × 50 − 25 − (8 − 7) (10)
Score: 0–23 (max 24)

Not the best of starts for our champion Mark as he goes behind after three rounds

Teatime teaser: LEDHARRY -> HERALDRY

Round 4: S N K U C E U T I

Mark: UNSTUCK (7)
Anthony: UNSTUCK (7)
DC: SNICKET (7) UNSTICK (7)
OT: STUCKIN (7) UNTICKS (7) UNTUCKS (7)
Score: 7–30 (max 31)

At last our champion gets some points on the board with his 7 Unstuck...........but there were a few of those hidden away......again not a lot to whine over !

Round 5: M U L E M O L S W

Mark: MULES (5)
Anthony: SMELL (5)

Round 6: 100, 2, 1, 3, 4, 10. Target: 844.

C1: -833/855 *Mills did not specify whether he got 833 or 855 – he only mentioned he was 11 away.
C2: 844. (100 × 2 + 10) × 4 + 3 + 1 (10)
Score: 12–45 (max 48)

Very unlucky for our champ Mark...........our challenger Anthony has no trouble solving this bad boy...........I found a couple of ways of solving 844

100*2=200
200+10=210
210 +11=211
211*4=844

100+3=103
103*4=412
412+10=422
422*2=844

A great 7 from our challenger Anthony he is starting to pile up the points

Round 8: D H C I D A E I M

Mark: -
Anthony: CHIDED (6)
DC: CADDIE (6)
OT: DIDACHE (7)
Score: 12–58 (max 62)

Our champ has drawn a blank in this round does he want the unwanted record of scores under 30 ? he will need to score some points in a few rounds

Image

Round 9: 75, 50, 1, 5, 6, 4. Target: 509.

C1: 505.
C2: 510. (75 + 50) × 4 + 6 − 1 + 5 (7)

Mark: UNPLAN (6)
Anthony: unran
DC: LANGOUR (7)
OT: LANGUOR (7) POLUGAR (7) UNPOLAR (7)
Score: 33–78 (max 101)

Another good round for our champion Mark and much to my annoyance he has beaten me on this round ! Over in Dc they get to shine with their 7 Langour..............but there was a fair few of those hidden away

Round 14: 25, 100, 75, 50, 2, 4. Target: 271.

C1: 271. 2 × 100 + 75 − 4 (10)

Round 15: P U P H E R N I A

No one buzzes. The answer was UNHAPPIER.
Final Score: 43–88 (max 121)

Neither Contestant spots the conundrum however it is left to a certain Rachel Riley and our very recap writer Tracey Mills to spot it. Firstly congratulations to Anthony Noonan on becoming the newest member of the teapot club, secondly take nothing away from Mark he will be happy with his 1 win and the teapot, you can join Mark for the next recap when a familiar face returns to the Countdown studios..........In the meantime it is bye for now !
